The Roads are Safer Once we Learn
Driver’s education is very important for new drivers to take, because driving is a big responsibility and one wrong move can cause consequences you might regret later. While driving you have to look at your surroundings at all times and you can’t be distracted by or with anything. The number of deaths can be reduced by teaching people everything about driving and we can all come together to think of new ways of doing this. The roads would be a lot safer if we all just took the time to learn the rules and practice, so we are ready and mature enough to drive on our own. Personal experiences can also help with seeing how important drivers education is.
Driving education is very important to reduce the amount of deaths because you need to learn everything about driving, what the road lines mean, what traffic lights mean, who is supposed to go in certain situations, ect. If everyone would take the time to learn everything well then they will surely be able to drive well and they will be able to know what to do in different situations. Road safety depends on the type of people who are driving and how responsible they are. Some steps we can take to reduce the number of deaths is to give people oral tests of what to do in situations. An example of this could be like “If you are at a 4-way stop and everyone arrives at the same time, who goes first?”. Once you ask that they should be able to answer in a few seconds and if they don’t then they need to look over the lesson a little more. Something else they can do is make people take mandatory courses to learn driver’s education before being able to get a permit/license regardless of their age. There are online courses people take but I feel like they should be in person because people can easily get distracted and not pay attention to what they are learning. There are so many things we can do to help reduce the number of deaths due to car accidents, we as a community just have to be willing to try and change what we as drivers do.
About 3 years ago me and my family were in a small accident during the winter. We were at a stop light when a car crashed into the side of us because they were turning and there was ice on the road. Accidents like these are very unexpected and they can happen to anyone at any time. Although it wasn’t our fault I don’t necessarily think it was the other driver’s fault either. I do think if someone would have shown them what to do when there is ice on the roads this accident could have been avoided. Icy roads are something everyone should get used to because, depending on where you live, it might be something you need to drive in frequently. My family and friends are all safe drivers, the thing that I see a lot of in different drivers is speeding. I think people should learn to stay within the speed limit because it could prevent many accidents. If people go too fast they won’t be able to have the right amount of time to stop and they might hit another car if they were not paying attention. If someone goes too slow then someone going the speed limit can hit them and cause an accident, or it could cause people to get mad and lead to things like road rage. People simply need to learn what driving education is and they need to learn it no matter what.
Everyone wants to learn to drive, but they forget that it comes with great responsibility. I think that they should change the age someone can get a permit because the older we are the better we will be when we are on the road. Mandatory classes should also be a thing because if we do it then people will actually have to learn what it means to drive. To conclude, I feel like the things we learn about driving won’t fix every accident but if the future generation takes the time to learn then the number of accidents and deaths will surely go down. We as people also need to remember that we are not the only ones driving and there are hundreds of people around us that we could end up affecting greatly if we aren’t prepared for the unexpected.
