I
think driving is a privilege not a right as most people my age think.
I took drivers ed from a professional driving school. I
think the classes and road lesson help me understand the rules and
how a car handles on the road. It helped me pass the permit test. I
have not taken the road test for my license yet, due to the fact I
got two concussions. My parents’ insurance company gives a discount
on car insurance if you take drivers ed, so even the
insurance company thinks it is a good idea to have professional
people help train me for driving on the road. It is not a law that
every young person needs to take drivers ed in my state,
but I believe it should be. This would help to cut down the number of
deaths due to car accidents and would ensure that all drivers know
the rule of driving an automobile.

I
have been in two accidents as a passenger in motor vehicles. I got a
concussion from the accident both times. The drivers of the vehicles
I was in were not at fault.

The first one my mother and I
were stopped at a red light in her car. My mother’s car was hit
from behind by a big pick-up truck and pushed into the car stopped
ahead of us. The second time I was on the van that drives me to
school and home every day. A lady had some kind of medical issue and
hit the van. I black-out for a few seconds. The van driver’s back
hurt her the next day. She had whiplash. I had to go to Children’s
Hospital for months after due to migraine headaches from a
concussion. The vehicles I was in both times were able to drive away
from the accidents. So everyone thinks oh good it was not a bad
accident, but I got a concussion and it made my school work and life
very difficult for almost a year. I did not get my driver license
because I could not drive with my parents or driving instructor for a
while and my driving permit expired. I plan to renew it soon then I
will take more road lessons from a professional and my parents. The
driver in the pick-up truck was not paying attention. He could have
hurt or kill people. When I am riding in a motor vehicle I pay
attention just in case the driver is not. This is one way I try to
help cut down on any more accidents I might be in. I will not text
and drive when I get my license and get made if anyone who is driving
does. I explain to the person that it is very dangerous and they
should stop. I tell everyone my age motor vehicle accidents can be
very bad even if the car/truck is able to drive away.
