How
a car accident changed my life
Car
accidents can be traumatizing. You’re never truly prepared for the
emotional and physical car accident after effect. Recovery usually
begins to occur once the collision or crash has been investigated,
medical attention has been sought, police reports and other relevant
documents are gathered, the evidence is collected, and liability is
determined. But that was not only the only thing that happened to me.
This
happened to me in a holiday while I was running bicycle with my
friends. I use to live in a small street with only ten houses when
this accident took place. I was with my father and my mom was at the
market. We were all running when one of my neighbors came driving and
hit me and my new bicycle that I just got for Christmas and keep
running the car with me and the bicycle for 25 feet over the street
gravel. He stop because my friends were screaming at him and heating
the car.
Between
screams and calls of every parent the mother of one of my friends
came with a sheet to cover my head and start to make me questions.
She said now that I told her in that moment that I was asking to go
home to take a shower but she told me to stay. My dad was in shock
and my friend’s mother called my mom and the 911. In the meantime,
she stayed with me until my mom arrived.
I
remember my mom’s eyes when she first saw me in the floor and she
was crying and told my friend mom for my ear. Yes the 25 feet over
the gravel took all my ear and part of my face disintegrated and my
mom was asking for it. Aldo part of my skull was fractured by the
same friction.
The
ambulance came to pick me up and drove at a high speed to the
emergency room, after many blood tests and a CT they transferred me
to the capital hospital. A helicopter took me there and they were
waiting for me. Six hours of surgery took place according to my mom.
When
I got up the next day I saw that my head was the size of a basketball
and cover. That day my mom and grandmother told me that i have lost
my ear and that they took skin from my leg to cover that part and my
cheek.
After
that day, my life has changed completely, everyone look at me
different, I can not apply to military services because of this
permanent damage of lacking of my ear. Has been difficult for me to
make friends, practice sports or having a girlfriend, even go to
school without having the looks of people and the questions.
My
mom and family support had made everything better, now and at my
senior year at High school I can say that I am a better person. I am
happy and I have accepted my life the way it is. After a few years my
mom let me play sports, I don’t get hide from people with a hoodie
and my academic achievement got up. Yes Is true that I won’t be in
any military service or homeland security agency, but I am alive and
I can do other things. Now I feel more confident and no more
depression for me.
In
conclusion yes my life changed because a driver was not paying
attention to the road and affect me at my age of 6 years old but life
is better for me now and I have plans for my future.
