Education
is Key

Education
is important because new drivers need to know how big of a
responsibility driving is. If drivers are careless, they are not only
putting themselves at risk but others at risk, too. It is important
to educate all prospective and even experienced drivers about the
rules of driving so that they can be followed correctly, and so that
the roads are safe for everyone.

There
is a multitude of steps to be taken in order to help prevent deaths,
and they are not limited to education. For example, one of the first
steps is understanding that having a driver’s license is a privilege.
Another step is getting advice from more experienced drivers because
one of the best ways to learn is from experience, and they can pass
that knowledge on to newer drivers. Another way is ensuring that the
laws are enforced as needed, otherwise, they would be useless.
Lastly, making drivers ed free to the public can provide
even those with financial issues the opportunity to learn how to
drive safely.

I
was in a car accident when I was in elementary school. My father, my
younger brother, and I were going home. We were waiting at the
stoplight right before our driveway. When the light turned green we
were hit by a car that was turning to their right. The crash happened
in a blink of an eye, and luckily it was only a fender-bender. Their
car had a small dent, while my father’s car had lost its entire
back bumper. The reason they hit our car was because they were not
paying attention to the road, and particularly, the stoplight.
Because of this car crash, I always feel anxious when I am behind the
wheel. It is incredibly easy to get into a car crash if I am not
paying close attention to my surroundings.

Personally,
I know that practicing for many hours, and keeping distractions to a
minimum are some of the most practical and necessary steps that I
must take in order to be a safe driver. Also, being aware of the laws
put in place in order to keep everyone safe is very important, too.
Even small things like not driving when I’m tired, putting loud
music on, texting while driving, and eating while driving can make a
huge difference. As for other people, keeping distractions to a
minimum, paying attention to their surroundings, and abstaining from
alcohol or drugs, are steps that they too can take in order to ensure
that their safety and the safety of others is not compromised.

Driving
is a big responsibility and a privilege that must be taken seriously.
There have been countless deaths from driving accidents because
people were being careless. Being educated and driving safely are
some of the best ways to prevent fatal accidents in the future.
