“In the Driver’s Seat”

1. To reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving, observe roadway signs, that increasingly use symbols rather than words to convey their message.

Symbols provide instant communication with roadway users, overcome language Barriers, and are the beginning standard for traffic control devices throughout the world.

Familiarity with symbols on traffic signs is important for every road user in order to maintain the safety and efficiency of our transportation facilities.

The color of roadway signs is an important indicator of the information they contain. The use of red signs is limited to stop, yield, and probation signs. A white background indicates a regulatory sign; Yellow conveys a general warning message; green shows permitted traffic movement or directional guidance; Fluorescent yellow/ green indicates pedestrian crossings and school zones; Orange is used for warning and guidance in roadway work zones; coral is used for incident management signs; Blue indicates road user services, tourist information, and evacuation routes; and brown is for the guidance to sites of public recreation or cultural interest.

2. The Steps to be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are as follows:

(A) Maintain a safe following distance

No matter how experienced you are, your vehicle can move in unexpected ways on wet, icy, or snowy roads. It Will take longer to stop in good road or weather conditions always leave at least 2 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. In poor road or weather conditions, leave at least 4 seconds.

(B) Reduce speed for the condition

The posted speed is the faster you are allowed to drive in ideal conditions. When conditions are less than ideal, drive slowly to the posted limit. Drive at a speed where you know you can safely control the vehicle.

(C) Use your bead lights

Drivers need to see and be seen in low light, Snow, rain, and fog reduce visibility. Always drive with your headlights on. Some older vehicles may not have lights that come on automatically.

(D) Know your right to refuse unsafe work

If you feel it is unsafe for you or A colleague to drive, talk to your supervisor or employer right away.

You can refuse to drive in unsafe weather conditions as part of your employee’s responsibilities.

3. Research has proven potential mistakes that happen daily while driving it is not how those mistakes are made but how effective corrections are made that define the attitudes and experiences of the drivers. However human attitudes and behaviors are leading causes of accidents – it is harder to manage.

Because everyone should be aware of human factors that can contribute to driving accidents. Haste makes waste. It is true. A driving accident is always costlier than the value of time saved.

My first experience happened when seven Young guys from our organization Great Destiny Youth Ministry were en route to Kakata City, Margibi County. To attend a three-day Youth seminar and worship event Title: MOLDING ROOM schedule from April 27 – 29 2023.

From Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia to Kakata city is an hour and a half drive. We have two seasons, the rainy season runs from April to mid-September. There was a heavy downpour of rain during the morning hours. The road was wet, and we departed late evening hour and anticipated to arrive before night.

The delay of our departure caused our leader to be in a haste mood. This resulted in minor accident in Kakata City when our Car ran into a taxi cab because of failure to observed the traffic lights.

4. The traffic division of the Liberia National Police has made it mandatory for safety vehicle maintenance. Because to have a comprehensive vehicle maintenance mandate is not just a recommendation; but necessary for effective fleet vehicle maintenance.

It is important for routine upkeep to more detailed inspections, every decision of safety vehicle maintenance is designed to safeguard your experience and ensure the reliability of your vehicles.

When it comes to overseeing a fleet of safety vehicles, the safety and well-being of your team rest on the reliability of your vehicle.

When it comes to overseeing a fleet of safety vehicles, Ensuring the safety and well-being of your team rests on the overall reliability of your vehicles.

Embracing a proactive attitude towards preventive safety maintenance depends on the vehicles operating at peak performance.

Regular maintenance such as Brake pad checks, tire rotation, and fluid Top-ups can prevent malfunctions that might otherwise lead to life-threatening accidents.

Addressing Issues early on through preventive measures can ward off exorbitant costs associated with significant breakdowns resulting from neglect.
