Different Perspective on Distracted Driving
Driving cars is
quite frankly one of the most effective forms of transportation in
the last 2 centuries. It takes you from point A to point B quicker
than walking. In order to become an experienced driver, one must
complete a DriverEd course with live-driving lessons. Everyone must
take this class because no one, and literally, no one wants an
inexperienced driver on the roads. In this class, you solidify the
fact that texting while driving is not suitable to your survival. It
is one of many distractions that can get you into an accident really
quick. I have to say that all teens and adults are very well informed
about the safety precautions one should take when driving. I feel
though that people that encounter car accidents felt that they were
too good of a driver to be in one. They overestimate their ability
and then the misfortune occurs. That is why you should keep yourself
out of distractions and focus on your driving. You can text that
friend later, I guarantee you that they will understand and that it’s
okay to talk later.
One
day I was texting my crush and as it is, I really like to talk to
her. Unfortunately in my case, I had to drive to the mall and also do
some errands. So I texted her, “Hey cutie, I gotta go, I can’t
talk because I will be driving. We’ll talk later!”. In a sense,
her response is quite unexpected to a few. She completely understood
and said, “Oh okay! Be safe!!”. Most people in such a case would
probably continue texting in the car, maybe in a less frequent
fashion, or maybe in a frequent fashion because I mean, this is your
crush and you need to talk to her right? Not really. With a single
text to communicate the fact that you will be driving is all that you
need to affirm your safety. And also your trust with him or her.
I
have never been in a car accident, but my mother did. She was driving
and looking at google maps to see where she was going. It was really
quick but regardless, in that second, she got hit by a truck and went
swirling in the middle of a traffic light. The other driver drove a
red light and my mom wasn’t aware.
To
whoever is reading this, I encourage you to text your friend before
you drive that you will be busy driving. I encourage you to be aware
of others and lastly, I encourage you to spread the word. Spread your
knowledge on driving because I guarantee that people would like to
hear your voice. Use it, it’s one of your most powerful tools. It’s
not only in DriversEd that you learn techniques and tips, If someone
hears advice from someone other than the class, you will be heard
more. Be focused, stay safe and you got this!
