Need
for Drivers ed

The
importance of drivers ed in reducing the number of deaths as a
result of driving is teaching motorists how to be safe in all
conditions on the road. One of the most emphasized issues discussed
during drivers ed is drunk driving accidents. The educators
show horrible traumatic clips of people that were affected by these
accidents whether they were the drunk driver or the victim of the
crash. These videos are used to scare new drivers about the dangers
of driving while intoxicated while showing how they can affect other
people. Drivers also need to be educated on the proper driving
etiquette and the rules of the road to prevent other accidents. It is
proper etiquette for the faster drivers to travel in the lanes
furthest to the left while the slower drivers drive to the right to
prevent traffic jams which could cause drivers to experience road
rage. Drivers also need to be taught not to speed or make illegal
turns to avoid unnecessary collisions. Another important issue
especially with young drivers is distracted driving which is one of
the top causes of car accidents. If the use of electronic devices
while driving motorized vehicles were to be decreased, the amount of
accidents related to distracted driving would also decrease. Even
with the possibility of collisions on the road, there are many things
that can be done to prevent them from occurring.

Some
of the steps to enforce this is to use more scare tactics to
emphasize the dangers of not following the rules or the road, driving
under the influence, and distracted driving. In the future, companies
can place restrictions on how fast automobiles can travel according
to the posted speed limit. Another possible use of technology is to
require the driver to blow into a breathalyzer in order to start the
car, which would make it much harder for someone who is intoxicated
to drive a car. Smartphones also need to take steps to ensure that
drivers cannot use their electronic devices while in the driverseat.
If these steps were to be put into play, we could possibly avoid many
unwanted collisions that come with critical injuries and deaths to
drivers and passengers across the country.

Unfortunately
when I was little I was in the back seat when I experienced a car
accident while my dad was driving. It was a rainy day and we were
heading into DC and we were going down a ramp and he went a little
too fast and we slid into the wall on the ramp. Nobody was hurt but
the car had some damage, but if this were to happen on a road with
more than one lane and more cars surrounding, it could have impacted
other drivers and passengers in surrounding vehicles. This could have
been avoided by driving at lower speeds and possibly using newer
tires.

To
prevent accidents from occuring, important steps need to be taken in
order to drive safer. One step that drivers can take is not going
over the speed limit, this will allow the driver to become more aware
of their surroundings which should lower the amount of accidents that
occur. The same steps can be taken by the state to lower the posted
speed limit which also should cause a decrease in the amount of
accidents. Another important step that drivers need to do to keep
themselves and other vehicles around them safe is to use their
blinkers when turning to notify drivers behind when making a left or
a right. There are many ways to keep the roads safe as long as
drivers are responsible and follow the rules, there will be a
decrease in accidents and collisions.
