Grant’s perspective on drivers ed an the auto industry

My
drivers ed teacher helped me learn many important things to
become a safe driver. Some of the most useful ones were: road sign
shapes, meanings, and colors; in addition to handling certain
situations like hazardous roads in wet or slick conditions. The signs
give you a warning that something should be noticed like animal
crossings, or tight turn ahead. If you pay attention to the road and
autos around you it makes your trip a breeze. I think some steps that
could be taken to reduce deaths when driving a car is less distracted
driving. There should be a part on the car where you have to put your
phone there for the car to be put into drive and the phone has to
stay there for the vehicle to drive. There would be a lot less
distracted drivers on their phone and they could pay more attention
to the road and other cars around them. I have seen an accident where
distracted driving was a part of it. It was at a busy intersection
near Chicago, IL. A cop was entering the intersection with his lights
and siren on and turning left across the traffic. Everyone was
focusing on the cop and one car pulled out in front of another car
and they hit front ends. So that shows that it’s also just not only
phones that are distracting people. Other distractions could be
changing a radio station or the heat/air/defrost settings in the car.
But phones are something we can easily fix. Just put them away so it
doesn’t take the focus away from driving. Put your phone down when
you’re driving. If you need to check your phone while you’re driving
you might be addicted and need time away from it. The person that you
would be texting when your drive should care about your safety and
probably doesn’t want you texting and driving in the first place. Set
it down and once you get where you’re going then you can be on your
phone all you want, if it is allowed.
