Driver ED

Throughout
history, teens have proved themselves to be rowdy and reckless. One
aspect of this recklessness is shown through how young adults drive.
Most young adults nowadays struggle with the whole aspect of how a
person is supposed to drive passively and safely.

Through
highschool, I have seen many people be put into the ground because of
getting in car accidents. The most notorious incidents that I have
seen caused by poor driving are resolved in people dieing. A girl
was driving no more than a dozen blocks from my house down a little
hill into a sharp curve while it was raining when she ran off the
road and hit a tree going fast enough to wrap her car around it, she
died hours later. The second incident that resulted in death was a
young man in a pick up truck trying to leave school. Traffic was
heavy and he decided to get closer to the light by parking on train
tracks. A train came and his truck was boxed in on the tracks. I
have seen a girl hit a student that was trying to bike home from
school because she was going too fast. I have been involved in a few
wrecks where I have been driving, as well as just a passenger. I
have hit the back of a garbage truck because the brakes on my old
truck lost hydraulic fluid and I thought I could just hit the brakes
harder than normal. Another time I hydroplaned into the back of a
police car that didn’t use his blinker. Finally, the most scary
accident I’ve been involved in was when I was riding passenger in
my buddies Jeep after a football game. At the football game we had
both gotten intoxicated and on the way home he rolled his Jeep three
times about a mile away from the school.

All
of these accidents and deaths could have been prevented by driving
more diligently and responsibly. Taking turns slower, not speeding
(especially in the rain), sitting behind railroad tracks, not driving
under the influence, and only driving with a properly maintained
vehicle are steps that can be taken to drive safer. If common sense
tells you that doing something can end badly, then it is probably
worth it to listen to your conscience and stay safe.
