Keeping a steady head and a steady hand on the wheel

Driver’s
education is a vital resource in our fast paced world. It provides
teenagers a mandatory class in which they are required to learn most
if not all road safety rules, and are tested on their knowledge. This
helps reduce the number of deaths, due to various factors. One such
factor is the most important rules, such as speed limits in certain
zones, rules about alcohol, and model driving practices helps sculpt
those learning from it into model drivers, and as a result less life
threatening mistakes are made. These drivers not only prevent
accidents from occurring but are role models for those unsure about
rules or regulations on the road. This can be especially helpful when
carpooling, as well as being in the car with children, as the example
set can resonate within fellow passengers. Numerous steps can be
taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. One such
step would be the shift in focus from the practices of parallel
parking, and other skills that are primarily learned by practice, and
more on the rules where most deaths occur, which is at intersections.
Instilling ideas about unprotected left turns, as well as whose right
of way it is, and what you should be looking for as a driver, will
prevent not only deaths, but small accidents as well. I have not
truly experienced being in a car accident or having friends or family
members drive irresponsibly. I have, however, heard of countless
stories in which many have died or have been seriously handicapped,
due to reckless driving which led to an accident. One step that can
be taken to become a better driver as well as help others become
safer is to reach out to your local community and keep those in the
community informed about changes to the rules of the road, as well as
remind them of key rules that should always be kept in mind
regardless of where you are and what’s going on. This helps you by
enforcing these ideas in your head, and others by leading a class
where they can ask questions as well as provide potential insight to
those around them. Another step might be just to talk with family
members about tricky situations in which knowing a rule might help
with. Lastly, making sure you have someone in the car with you, to be
able to provide a second opinion in terms of your driving habits, and
who can suggest alternative methods of driving in order to ensure
they are safer on the road as well as yourself.
