Sitting in the driver seat is a huge responsibility. While we are managing the steering wheel, not only we should be proficient in driving but we should be aware of the safe driving practices. We never want to be the reason behind any major or minor accident. Human life is precious and by adopting safe driving practice, we are doing our bit to value it. While the means of transportation has evolved over years to a great benefit to us, there are unwanted accidents. These happen mostly due to the negligence of safety. So, for enjoying the benefits of our progress, we should inculcate safe driving habits.

Engaging youth in a process that make them thoughtful is the best way to reduce deaths related to driving.

Fortunately, I have not met with an accident. However, I have seen drivers being overconfident and unnecessarily inviting trouble. They keep their mobile phones on the steering wheel while driving at a high speed. Boasting of multi-tasking, they are a risk to themselves and also to others. I have seen some drivers who drink and drive, sure of the control over their impulses and senses. Some break traffic rules in vain heroism and show off. They lack the understanding of the seriousness of implications.

I will be a safe driver by following all the necessary rules and regulations. I will promote and participate in such programs. I will observe and learn from the surroundings. I will earn a driver’s license before I drive on the road. I will avoid all such practices that put the lives of people in danger. When we are connected the car, we are also connected to the humanity at large. I understand that my every action with the accelerator, brake and clutch has a great impact on the outside world. So, I must apply the accelerator of learning to hone driving skills. I must apply immediate brakes to my ignorance. I must use the clutch to smoothen my actions. I must change the gears of learning at the right moments. I understand that human life is very valuable.
