A Slippery Slope

Have you ever felt under pressure? Have you ever had to make a life or death decision in the matter of a millisecond? One wrong move and you could end your life and the lives of many others. I have been in this predicament before. This has caused a lot of guilt in my family over the years.

I was driving home from Hershey park with my family. The rain was pouring down to the point where we could barely see. Everything seemed calm until the car lost traction to the road. My mother’s friend lost control of the wheel. We slammed into the highway dividers twice which resulted in me getting terrible bruising on my back and head. The car was wrecked but our lives were saved. This was because the driver remained calm and was able to avoid hitting other cars. This isn’t the case for other people.

Drivers ed is important because they try to inform drivers about how to drive safely and responsibly. Many drivers die because they aren’t very informed. This is either because of the schools or themselves. I believe that we should make the criteria harder to get a license. For example making the passing grade for your permit test higher. I believe you should score more than 85%. This will make sure that the drivers are informed and actually care about the well being of others and themselves.

In order to reduce the amount of car crashes drivers should check the weather conditions before driving. Drivers should also make sure that they actively get their car inspected. Also don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or while heavily medicated. When I drive I will make sure that I am Heavily aware of my surroundings. I will also try to remain calm when I am under pressure. I shall not drive if I feel like it is unsafe.
