DMV ESSAY

One of the most powerful tools a human can acquire is education. As we progress into the future each day, we are able to keep up with the rapidly changing world. Traveling from point A to point B is a requirement everyone has to do. Either by car, bus, bicycle, and even walking. Yet, even if it’s something we do everyday like having lunch. People are still passing away from car crashes globally, having more than 1.35 million deaths around the world per year. With this absurd amount of deaths per year, the only way we can make a change is by being more educated . Drivers ed is something valuable everyone needs to master, because for the rest of their lives they are going to use automobiles to transport themselves. If everyone riding the roads had the full knowledge of the rules of the road, people will not create scenarios which could cause damage to anyone. Some examples are people running the red lights, making U turns on wrong places, or even not paying attention when getting out of your own house. This could greatly impact the amount of deaths per year.

One of the many ways deaths can be reduced is by driving responsibly by not driving under the influence of beer or any drug. If most people were able to understand that they should not drive while drunk, well over 9000 people can still be alive and have a great future. This also can help us save over 40 million dollars , which can be used on more useful public projects etc. Another step which can help save more people is by keeping focus on the road at all times. While being distracted it has not only killed the people inside the car, but the people outside. In 2017, 60% of traffic deaths in San Francisco were pedestrians, and in New York 46% of the traffic deaths were pedestrians.

I have not seen or been in a car accident, but one of my closest friends has faced an 800 dollar fine for speeding on a freeway. One of the things to take away from this incident is not the cost of the ticket, but what the officer said to my friend which changed his whole point of view from that day. The officer asked my friend after giving the ticket. “What if today, you would have taken away a parent from their kids, How do you think the kids would have felt? How would you feel? if one of your parents was taken away because someone decided to speed up on the highway? This made me think that the ones in the accident will not be the only ones to get hurt or killed, but the relatives and family of the person will also be hurt emotionally. Having the thought in your head of taking someone’s life, ripping them away from his family and friends will only cause remorse and guilt to you.

One of the ways we can be safer drivers for both parties is keeping focus on the road at all times. With this under control we can stay aware of our surroundings. Another problem we might have is having road rage. We must stay calm all the time while driving because even a small maneuver can flip a car in a manner of seconds
