Driving in itself is always hazardous as it depends on the driver’s qualification as well as their physical and mental state. This and others around them who are also behind the wheel. It is crucial one takes, completes, and passes drivers ed because the decision to take a certain turn or follow a sign can most definitely be a life or death situation. In taking these classes, scientists and doctors will be able to see lower death rates that involve reckless driving or drivers. Although, many people are not financially stable to enroll in courses that take away from their schedule.

More opportunities in schools to take free classes would be game-changing. Providing free drivers ed in high school as an afterschool program will allow students of all ages to prepare and understand what the test consists of. In doing so, their exposure to this material will allow them to advance their knowledge of the handbook. With these programs students will also have room in their schedule for classes, therefore, creating educated drivers and a set stage for generations of responsible citizens. But there are many factors to consider when it comes to safe driving.

Factors like disabilities, age, or minor distractions like children or allowing emotion to blind oneself should most certainly be considered when finding solutions to reduce the high mortality rates related to driving. I understand there were breakthroughs in self-driving cars. There were also advancements in cameras placed on the roof of a vehicle. These cameras allow for a 360 view of their surroundings. I strongly believe that if there were a push and strong advocacy for these cameras to be mass-produced, it will alert a driver of surrounding dangers seconds before. And when considering uncontrollable factors like those listed above, a camera would be a tremendous help.

I have not been in a car accident but know of family members that have due to circumstance and I strongly believe that drivers should be fully educated before taking the responsibility of driving for their safety and more importantly the safety of others.

I can learn from others and become more aware of my surroundings. In growing my awareness, I also become observant. These qualities put together are key factors in safe driving and knowing what is around me. Through this, I will guide my younger peers and family members on the importance of safe driving. Assisting others as well with the guidance I have come to learn will allow me to become a role model citizen and showcase what safe driving looks like.
