Present Knowledge Influences Driver’s Safety

Nearly 1.25 million people are killed in car crashes each year.” Study shows that Drivers Education significantly reduces car crashes, especially in teen driving. We must take caution of ourselves, along with other drivers while driving on the road. To do that it’s important to learn and understand how drivers education can significantly impact our ability to be more cautious and safe drivers in order to lower death rates of other drivers on the road.

What is the importance of drivers education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving? Being involved and understanding what you’re learning in drivers education influences how you operate a vehicle and that impacts your’s and other people’s safety. In a study, Nebraska Today, it stated that “young drivers who have not completed driver’s education are 75 percent more likely to get a traffic ticket, 24 percent… involved in a fatal accident, and 16 percent… involved in an accident.” Similarly, taking this class can reduce the risk of car accidents and deaths of yours and/or other people’s lives.

What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving? To reduce death rates while driving we should always take cautions before driving and during driving, such as avoiding distractions, knowing your destination and/or second planning route, knowing your vehicle is in safe condition to drive, etc. This is important in order to maintain a safe environment; we also must obey rules, such as, wearing a seatbelt at all times, avoid texting and driving, don’t plan on having alcohol, maintain the speed limit, etc. Following the rules of driving can help maintain a safe environment and plays a significant role in reducing fatal accidents for you and other people.

I have been in a car accident before when I was little and the driver who hit us drove irresponsibly, which caused our safety to be in danger as well as other people around the driver. Another example is that since I currently attend high school, I encounter seeing many young drivers driving irresponsibly at my school. Not only am I worried about the safety of the driver, I’m more worried about the people around the driver knowing that they could get hurt based on a situation they cannot control. It’s important to not only understand what you learn in drivers education, but to take driving and certain situations very seriously for the sake of your safety and others.

What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road? In order to take cautions we must take driving very seriously as I find many drivers are careless and selfish people; we also must obey the law, no matter how distributive the rules can be, the safety of others and yourself always comes first. In summary, participating in drivers education will teach you how to avoid dangerous driving situations and help you become a safer driver.
