How the dangers of unsafe driving effect people and how to solve it!
The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is fundamentally large. This is because driver education not only teaches people how to drive for themselves, but also for other people. When drivers drive for other people, they don’t just think about their own lives, they think about others. This allows for people to drive very carefully enough because they are always thinking about others’ lives. They would make sure they are not driving recklessly in order to preserve their lives and someone else’s.
Not only does driver education reduce the number of deaths by creating a safety for everyone mentality in new drivers, but they also teach new drivers the rules of the road and how to follow them. These rules of the road are made to protect every driver on the road. With driver education teaching new drivers these rules, it allows for the new drivers coming to the road to be aware of the rules and follow them in order to protect themselves and everyone else on the road. Both things that driver education does are fundamentally important in reducing the number of deaths due to driving.
Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are new safety initiatives made in every car that would make driving easier and safer, new laws that take dangerous driving way more seriously, and new and improved rules that enforce the laws more strictly.
I have been in 3 car accidents as well as seeing my friends and family driving recklessly. My first car accident I was in was with my dad. We were leaving Chucky Cheese’s for my baby brother’s birthday party, and he was not paying attention to the road because he was on his phone. He ran right over the median in the middle of the road. Thankfully there was no actual damage, but that really shook us up and I told him that he needs to start taking driving more seriously not only for himself, but for others because it could have been way worse. The second accident I was in was with my stepdad. People ran into the back of us causing us to run into the back of someone else. I hit my mouth on the dashboard in that car accident and that was my fault because I was not wearing a seat belt. I now wear a seatbelt in every car I get in. The third accident was with my mom and stepdad. We were waiting at the red light and some guy ran into the back of us. He said, “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t paying attention, I was on my phone and in a rush”. This situation is a prime example of why you should follow the rules on the road. I had to go to physical therapy for my back for about 6 weeks because of that accident.
The steps that I can take to be a better driver is to follow the rules of the road more. I admit that I still use my phone sometimes while driving and I do drive a bit fast, but I know the consequences I am working on stopping those actions. I don’t use my phone as much anymore and I always check my speedometer to make sure that I’m driving the speed limit or not too far over it. I also make sure that I am checking my surroundings so that I can be aware of other drivers and drive to protect them as well. I can help others become safer on the road by teaching them what they need to do to be safe on the road and show them examples of what happens when they aren’t driving safe on the road.
