Wearing seat belt
Wearing a seatbelt prevents passengers from being ejected during a severe accident or an accident that involves a rollover. There are two types of seatbelts. One is the lap belt. This type of belt goes over the waist and usually found in the back seat. The other type of seat belt is the Three-point belt or a shoulder-lap belt. This belt goes over the shoulder, across the chest and waist and usually found in the front seat. No matter what kind of seatbelt you have in your vehicle, most vehicles have some kind of beeping or ringing sound to alert the driver and the passengers to buckle up. Even with the sound, some drivers or passengers ignore it or cannot even hear it, so they continue to drive with no seat belt. In order for all to be safe in the car, the seatbelt alert signal should be louder or involve vehicle communication. The signal could also make annoying noises, have flashing lights, or not allow the vehicle to start up.
With the signal or alert system that is in vehicles now, it is a monotone sound. This sound does not have any type of volume setting. The signal should get louder as the time passes with no seat belt buckled. This loud beeping or ringing sound cannot be shut off until the seat belt is buckled. The vehicle communication, would be similar to Siri or other virtual assistant that we have in our vehicles now. This communication system would tell you to buckle up in a polite way. As time passes without a driver or passenger buckling their seat belt, the communication system would politely ask a few more times. After a few times of being polite, the communication system would raise its voice. It would be a stern voice as well as getting louder to notify you to buckle up. It may even swear at you. For some drivers or passengers who are hard of hearing or deaf, the signal or alert system may be flashing lights or even the windshield could darken. Along with all of these seat belt signals or alert systems, the vehicle could not even allow a driver to place their key in the ignition or not even push the button for key less entry vehicles. The vehicle would simple not start up.
Drivers and passengers of any type of vehicle should get into the habit of buckling their seatbelt with or without any signals or alert systems. Some drivers or passengers say that the seat belt is uncomfortable. There are many ways and safe ways for it to be comfortable. Some of the ways are having adjustable straps or having seat belt covers or pads. These covers slip right over the belt so that it will be soft on you neck, shoulder, chest, and waist. With any type of seatbelt or alert system we have in our vehicles, just remember to CLICK IT OR TICKET IT!!!!
