One of the significant things teens look forward to is the ability to obtain their license, with that comes the responsibility of safe driving. Statistics show that 31% of Fatal teen car crashes are caused by speeding. However, The amount of car accidents we encounter in our daily lives is troublesome. Teenagers need to be made aware of the consequences that come with reckless driving. The importance of being a safe driver should be discussed with new upcoming drivers.

Completing driver’s education is just one step to help reduce the number of deaths while driving not only does it allow you to become more comfortable behind the wheel but you are less likely to be involved in deadly crashes. Many teens might find this “unimportant or not useful” but the importance of this is by taking driver’s education, teens become educated on what to do on the road and what not to do. Teens also gain the advantage of having practice behind the wheel before driving on streets which prevents accidents.

The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents are too always put on your seatbelt, that includes passengers, and be more aware of your surroundings. It is very easy to get distracted by your cell phone, music, people in the car etc. I’ve seen a fair share of car accidents in my life. When I was a baby I was in a car accident, my mom was driving and she crashed into a pole. When the paramedics and police got there, they told my mom, my seatbelt saved my life. That’s a scary thought to think about what if I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

I am going to become a better driver, by being more aware of my surroundings and I always make sure to not have my phone on my lap, I put it somewhere safe where I won’t get distracted. Others can simply become safer drivers on the road, by first taking driver education, the hours you put in are worth it, you gain knowledge and experience on the road which makes the road safer for everyone. Lastly, like i’ve said be aware of your surroundings, I can’t express enough how important that is. Deadly accidents can be prevented.
