Finally
almost sixteen, the year I get my freedom to go as I please without
having to drag along my parents. This being the year that I learn
responsibility, it’s crucial I also learn how to drive safely and
efficiently. Something as small as running down the street to the
grocery store could turn into a fatal tragedy because of careless or
unaware drivers. To prevent said tragedy, and in order to be properly
educated on how to drive safely, it’s crucial to learn the
importance of being an educated driver, being aware of and taking the
necessary steps to reduce the number of driving related deaths, to
prevent the dreadful experience of a car accident evoked with
irresponsible driving, and finally mastering the steps to take to be
a better and safer driver. That is why before getting on the road,
you need to be educated as well as know how to drive safely.
In
order to be properly educated on how to drive safely, it’s crucial
to learn the importance of being an educated driver beforehand. Being
an educated driver decreases the risk of injuring yourself and others
around you. The steps you need to follow to be well-educated are:
study the drivers manual, always take a minute to adjust your seat
and mirror before igniting the car, always put your seatbelt on, and
lastly make sure to use turn signals and appropriate road behavior.
For example, one of the most terrifying experiences a person can
encounter is a car speeding towards you, head on, without warning and
no stop within sight; it’s like your life flashing before your
eyes. We all need to protect each other along with ourselves The
steps we need to achieve to make ourselves and others around us
better and safer drivers are: share the road (be aware of other
drivers), avoid tailgating, insure that you keep a three-five second
time interval between your vehicle and the person in front of you
(according to “Maintaining a Safe Following Distance on the
Highway- The 3-5 Second Rule”) , use appropriate signals, follow speed limit accordingly, lastly
eliminate all distractions.
To sum everything
that has been previously stated, in order to keep both yourself and
those around you safe and prevent future fatal accidents, it’s
important to be a well-educated. Being an educated driver decreases
the risk of injuring yourself and others around you. To be
well-educated you need to: use turn signals and appropriate road
behavior, seatbelt always on, adjust your mirrors and seat before
starting the car, and study drivers manual thoroughly. Having to
experience a car accident leaves you traumatized and leaves a
permanent imprint on your life. A few steps to be a better and safer
driver, as well as improve others’ safety on the road are:
eliminate all distractions, use appropriate signals, keep a
three-five second time interval between you and the driver in front
of you, share the road and lastly, avoid tailgating.
