Driver
Education

Driver
education should be one of our priorities in our homes and schools.
It should become a common topic among kids and young adults. It’s
essential for keeping the safety in our communities. Drivers ed
would keep drivers and pedestrians safe. For example, deaf people,
children taking the bus, and geriatric population. It would make a
positive impact on the quality of life we deserve. Everyone deserves
to arrive home safe. It’s our responsibility to start talking to
our future generations about drivers ed, it’s never too soon to
save a life. The step that can be taken to reduce the number of
deaths related to driving is advocating for drivers ed.
Organizations in our community should bring awareness about the
importance of safe driving. It would help individuals to become more
conscious about the life of others and their own.

An
experience that has made a before, and after in my life was when I
saw a man with a beer in his hand driving in front of me. I
remembered that I was going home from college when the car in front
of me was swinging from side to side of the road. Thankfully, it was
a one-way street that is used mostly for farmworkers and students
during the morning. I saw from his wing mirror that he had a bear on
his hand. In that instant, I move to the side of the road and I
called 911. I provided my location and the car’s characteristics. I
know that I did the right thing but as a young adult many people have
told me that I exaggerated. This situation demonstrates the
importance of advocation for drivers ed in our community.
People still consider that swinging from side to side of the road or
having a beer in your hand is “acceptable”. The step that I
can take to be a better driver is to talk about drivers ed with
my family. It should become a common topic in our conversations. My
family and I can discuss the impact that has on our daily routines.
Also, I can talk with my friends about reaching out to an
organization to advocate for drivers ed in our community. We
can distribute brochures to educate my community about the advantages
and disadvantages of safe driving. Overall drivers ed is as
essential as drinking water because it’s what keeps us alive.
