2020 Drivers Education Essay
2020 Drivers Education Essay
In the U.S, the average number of accidents is 6 million Americans. Drivers Education is extremely important before actually driving on the open road. Drivers education helps to make sure you are mentally prepared when being behind the wheel. It teaches you the do’s and don’ts of driving. How to park, when to stop, the different parts of your car, etc. Taking drivers education makes the knowledge of driving so much easier. After taking the course, now it’s your job of incorporating the rules of the road into the physical motions of driving. Sometimes driving doesn’t always go as planned. You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times because anything can happen at any time. Sadly, in today’s time, most people are extremely reckless when it comes to driving. They have the mentality that if they haven’t gotten in an accident so they don’t need to follow the rules of the road. They don’t have common curtesy to others driving on the road. Unfortunately, my dad was affected by one of those people. One night we received a phone call from him that he had been in a car accident. We just thought that it was a simple accident like a little bump or a simple scratch. The tow truck brought his car back home, and his car was completely wrecked. The front of the car was gone, it was squished like a sandwich, airbags everywhere and the glass shattered to the last piece. Gratefully, he was ok but all that could go through my head was the fact that he could’ve lost his life to a reckless driver. They thought that responding to one text message was more important than my dad’s life. Now whenever my mom is driving and I see her even try to reach for her phone I take it from her until we get to our final destination. A phone is not worth risking our lives over. I remember one day my dad was driving us home from my soccer game. I get a call from one my friends and they tell me that he’s been in a bad accident. He caused that accident because he was under the influence. He thought drugs was more important than getting home safely. All I could think about is that, I could’ve easily been in that car with him, that could have been my life gone or I could’ve been majorly injured easily. Knowing what to do while you are driving and the choices you make while driving is so important because it affects more than just you, it affects everyone around you on the road as well. When I’m driving, I always make sure to place my phone face down or put it in a place where I can’t see it so I won’t have the urge to pick it up. Being a safe driver is extremely important to me and taking a class before being able to be on the road opened my eyes to what tragic events occur on the road. Drivers education saves so many lives every single day and will continue to save more and more lives overtime.
