Drivers Education

Drivers education is extremely important, now more than before because of the new technologies that everyone is using. By educating new and old drivers on the dangers of using phones while driving we are able to reduce the amount of death by distracted driving. Driver education also helps new drivers who are usually young and reckless take more responsibility and care while driving. They are thought safety measures and what to do under pressure in different situations. With this knowledge the driver is aware that what they do on the road not only affects them but everyone around them. As a result the drivers will be more careful, reducing the amount of death caused by drivers.

There are many steps to be taken in regards to reducing deaths related to driving. For example, the driver should feel comfortable before they even start the car, making sure everything is correct, their seat, seat beats and mirrors. Checking lights, brakes and emergency buttons. Another step that can be taken, is for other schools that are not yet doing drivers ed. should have a requirement of drivers education in the form of a year or half year long class. They should be required to pass the class in order to go further with their driving. They should also have most of the drivers education classes given in person not online. This is because the students have no supervision and could be looking up answers. This way the teachers could watch over the students and ask questions with real world situations. Another step could be having drivers who have already finished all their driving education come in every few years and take an up to date education class for a day or two. This might seem like a hassle for us but it could help. The dmv should also increase the amount of behind the wheel hours requirement this will prepare the driver better. Lastly, drivers who are going to drink at a bar should not be able to drive, the bars should have no customer parking.

I have never been in a car accident but many of my immediate family has, though for the most part it wasn’t their fault. The only time it was their fault was when one of them had just gotten off of work and they were a little tired but they believed it wasn’t much. They made the error of leaving in this condition and on their way back, they fell asleep on the wheel, crashing into another coming vehicle. Luckily everyone was fine from both vehicles, only a few broken ribs from my family member. But since that day they have decided if they are even a little bit tired, they will rest then go or have someone else drive them. There have also been moments that I have witnessed where the driver takes their phone out and starts to text, I have warned them about the dangers of this, which seems to help but occasionally they do it again in which I again tell them and offer to do it for them. There have also been instances where the driver has had a few drinks and left without waiting more time to sober up, even just a bit. Luckily, no accidents happened.

There are a multitude of steps that can help me and others become a better and safer driver. For instance, regularly checking if the car is running safely, making sure that all the necessities like brakes, mirrors, seats are working fine. Double checking that everyone that is in the vehicle is probably secure before we begin to drive and putting our phones on silent. When on the road making sure to stay focused and watch out for road signs that say the speed limit and if there is any road work ahead.
