Safe driving 101

When everyone reaches the age of around fifteen years old, they get enrolled into a driving program where they do classes to learn about the rules of the road and how to be a safe driver, and then you move on to the process of getting your license to drive. When in driving school, the main mission of the program is to teach you on how to be a safe driver to keep you and other people on the road safe as much as possible. People who first start driving are usually careful at first, and then they get comfortable as time passes, maybe not being as safe anymore. Drivers start to do things that could cause a serious accident, like texting and driving because they think they can multitask, but it takes one second for you or someone to cause an accident when you are not paying attention. The importance of driver education in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving is that it teaches you mainly on how to be safe for yourself and other people by teaching you the rules of the road and giving you the knowledge to apply when driving. If driver education was not required before getting a license, the mortality rate from car accidents would most likely be a lot higher than it already is.

People die in or from car accidents more than people think. When I drive places, I usually see a wreck on the side of the road 90% of the time. If there are more fatalities from wrecks than a war, that means it happens more frequently than it seems. There are so many ways to help reduce the number of deaths related to driving, such as paying attention at all times, being aware of your surroundings, and following the rules of the road. Paying attention is a major one, because you should be paying attention anyways while driving to prevent you or someone or both getting injured.

Things that should be prevented to help you pay attention is to not text and drive or to use a smartphone at all when driving, to not eat and drive, or to do something in general that can take your attention away from the road, even if it is for one second, anything can happen within the blink of an eye. Being aware of your surroundings is also a helpful one because it is important to know where you are at and where important locations are, and to also be paying attention to the other drivers around you, because they could be driving recklessly and cause an accident. I have seen family members or friends driving irresponsibly such as them texting and driving or not wearing a seatbelt or going over the speed limit. Steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road is to pay attention and watch my surroundings.
