How to be a Safe Driver.

Driving is a privilege. In order to fulfill that privilege, you need to know the rules of the road. Every driver should have completed the Drivers Education course to help reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents. According to research studies, teens that complete the Drivers Education course are less likely to get into car accidents than teens who don’t complete the Drivers Education course. The course teaches you how to be a safe driver and what the consequences are when you’re not being safe. It also teaches you that other cars on the road are dangerous and it’s important to be alert to all cars. It makes sure you know all the rules of the road to avoid any collision on the road. The importance of knowing the rules of the road could save you or someone else’s life.

Drivers Ed teaches drivers the rules of the road, and most importantly the safety of driving. Reducing the number of deaths related to driving all comes down to distractions. Texting and driving is one of the number one most common reasons why car accidents happen. In order to avoid texting and driving, put your phone down and turn on do not disturb mode. Always keep your eyes on the road and look at your blind spots. Keep your distance from the car in front of you to be extra careful. Wear a seatbelt and be alert of the cars around you because there are very dangerous drivers out there who could be driving drunk or on drugs.

Fortunately, I have not been in a car accident, but I do know someone that has. Before I was born, my aunt was in a very serious car accident. She and her friends were going through a green light when another car did not stop at their red light and smashed right into the car. My aunt and her friends flipped over and rolled down a huge ditch. They also were not wearing seatbelts. My aunt was in the back seat and hit her head so many times that she became unconscious but thankfully survived. In the passenger seat, her friend’s face flew into the windshield and the glass caught onto her skin and ripped it off of her face. Fortunately, they all survived but with a near-death experience and very serious injuries.

To better myself as a driver, I will always keep my eyes on the road as well as having the habit of putting my seatbelt on. I follow all rules of the road and am very cautious of my surroundings. I’m alert to all cars around me and keep my distance when something doesn’t feel right. I’m always looking ahead in order to prepare myself for anything that could happen. Making sure my car is in good condition before I’m on the road is also important. Lastly, I will not let anything distract me and my driving as it could be a result of mine or another’s life.
