Never alone on the road.
“Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.” I saw this quote one day after a family friend of mine was killed in a car accident. I never knew the importance of driving safely until this event had passed. It gave me nightmares and anxiety about ever getting into a car but life events happen for a reason either it happens to you or it happens to others. Driving safely and being aware can change the outcome of your life.
As every driver should know that once you get behind the wheel that you are responsible for you and other people on the highway. Being aware of your situation and your speed can really save a person’s life if you believe it or not. According to Wikipedia 1.3 million people each year die in a car accident. Most of the accidents are due to driving under the influence of alcohol. To make these numbers go down if you ever think about driving drunk never it’s better to get your car impounded then going to court for second degree manslaughter. If you consume amounts of alcohol always find a ride home or call a trusted friend to take you home who isn’t under the influence. Wearing your seat belt comes a long way regardless of the situation cause if it’s not a car it can be an animal or objects that can hit and startle you and you just might lose control and hit a wall. The seat belt can reduce injuries and reduce the numbers of deaths during accidents.
Losing a family friend to a car accident shows that cars and people around you can take a life and have a huge impact on lives. I knew that this man was going to do great things and he was always quiet but everyone loved his presents. I just don’t want to think about how scared and alone he was when it happened. No family should go through something like this because someone was being selfish and trying to please themselves. I really wish the outcome was better but I do forgive the man who was driving recklessly. Obviously I wasn’t related to this guy but he was one of my friends and that’s my loss because he really did push me to become better at what I put my mind to. I tell you this story of my life because driving safely does matter and it can affect the peers in your life. Being a good driver doesn’t always mean that you’ll be safe on the road, anything can happen to anyone anywhere. I don’t mean to scare anyone but I just encourage you to remember that people on the highway have family they’re trying to see.
I hope that my essay at least touches one person reading this cause you can change the outcome of any car ride. I don’t want you to feel bad for me but learn from this life event. Buckle up and remember that you are responsible for your life and others on the road.
