The Dangers of Driving
Mastering the operation of a massive vehicle is an art that not many people can comfortably achieve. Many experienced drivers continue to warn young new pilots, who are eager to get their license and zoom down the road. When it comes to driving, almost anything can happen at any time. All it takes is one split second for tragedy to strike when you least expect it. Many people, especially teenagers, do not take driver education as seriously as they should. The majority of drivers overlook the importance of knowing each and every rule of the road, as well as some of the necessary precautions when it comes to owning and driving a vehicle. Although it might seem as if drivers ed is tedious and a waste of time, I can assure you that the lessons you learn in the classroom could potentially save your life and the lives of others one day. It is much easier to be prone to accidents when you do not know the basic rules of driving; this could be things like four-way stop signs, having (or not having) the right of way, traffic light operations, etc. Even when one is confident in their overall driving knowledge, accidents still occur on the daily. It is extremely important that the driver takes full responsibility for all passengers in the car, and uses the appropriate equipment in order to ensure the safety of themself and others. Examples of this would be always wearing a seatbelt, driving under the speed limit, concentrating on the road at all times, and so much more. As a person who has never been in any car accident or even close encounter, I am confident when I say that abiding by all rules I have learned has kept me safe throughout my years of driving. Having said this, I am aware of how frightening it can be when in the car with someone who does not take driving very seriously as it should be taken. Irresponsible driving can easily result in fatalities, whether it be you, your friends and family, or another stranger’s life. It is critical that reckless drivers be handled properly and efficiently, with things like driver improvement classes and suspension of the current license. Some other steps that can be taken to ensure the safety of everyone on the road would be to practice safe driving in an open space; this could be a parking lot, an empty garage, or a less populated neighborhood. Along with this, you can talk to a parent or trusted adult about getting help with learning how to drive. If people took the proper measures when beginning their driving careers, it would make the roads a much safer place for everyone. As for myself, I believe that everyone can improve their driving skills in some capacity. From here on out, I will take more precautions when it comes to using my cell phone for navigation, and focusing solely on just driving. If we all work together to eliminate distractions while driving and memorize all driving laws, we can decrease the worldwide number of casualties caused by accidents.
