Renewed Driver Education

Renewed Driver Education

Growing up, my dad would often make silly comments on people’s bad driving skills. Out of the many jokes he would use, my favorite would have to be “Did you just get your driver’s license out of the cereal box this morning?” The idea that someone would just be granted the gift of being allowed to drive was funny to me as a kid. Now I realize how true that can be sometimes. Often when I am driving myself, I notice many people driving in reckless ways that could easily endanger many people. It makes me very worried and cautious as a somewhat new driver. Many people just think they have to pass the driver’s test and then they are free to drive as they please. That is far from the truth. It is so very important that people realize they should never forget what they learned in order to pass the test.

Driver’s Ed is often seen as a class that is only required when you are beginning to drive. The rules of driving are practically almost beat into your head so that you can understand what you are doing and be able to take both the written test and the driver’s test. As soon as you pass the test and get your license, you would assume you are done learning. Many teens get into car wrecks in the six months after they pass their driver’s test because they believe it is no longer important to remember the rules. This can bring so many problems when it comes to driving. If you stop learning and bringing it to memory, you can easily forget the most important rules of driving. Being constantly aware of and recalling the rules of driving can help you to not only be a better driver, but to possibly save a life. It is important as a driver to constantly be aware of what you should and should not do in certain driving situations.

Not only should you know what the rules of driving are, but you should also understand why they are put into place in the first place. Being able to understand why the rules are in place help you to realize why it is a better option to follow said rules. The rules of driving are meant to keep everyone safe. There is a reason why drunk driving is illegal. Your mind is not well enough due to the alcohol to drive, thus why you can easily get into danger by driving under the influence. Even rules many of us do not see as being a big deal can actually cause huge effects if not followed. Speeding can cause numerous kinds of events, from rear-ending someone, to hitting them in the side because you were going too fast to stop in time. If you are trying to pass someone in a no pass zone, you could hit someone head on and not realize what happened until the authorities show up. Reckless driving causes so many deaths every single year. People need to constantly educate themselves on how to drive, no matter how well they think they can drive. Doing so could save so many lives.
