We Will Make it Home Today

Just because something has not happened to you does not mean it will never happen. Drivers around the world are putting their lives and the lives of others around them at risk when they get behind the wheel of their vehicle. It may not seem like a simple drive is anything to raise concern, but it can lead to an accident and broken hearts. This is why driver education is important. It teaches us ways to lower the risks involved when we decide to go out so that we can return home safely. By doing so, more precious lives are saved from untimely death.

One of the most effective steps to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is paying attention to the road. Not only should one focus on what is happening around the car, but one should also pay attention to what is happening inside the car. This should be the responsibility of both the driver and passengers. Everyone should know and follow the rules of driving and say something when they are being broken. Also, an awareness that an accident can occur at any moment is crucial to reducing deaths related to driving. Sometimes, we may just focus on getting to our destination quickly and forget to follow the rules. However, taking the time to realize that getting there is better than not arriving at all can make all of the difference.

Personally, I have been fortunate enough not to have been involved in a serious accident. However, this does not mean I should refrain from following the rules of the road. I understand that every moment on the road has the potential to lead to disaster. Whether it is caused by me or the many other drivers on the road, an accident may occur at any time.

The biggest factor that keeps me safe on the road is my family. I know that many families out there have been terribly affected by car accidents. Parents have outlived their children and children have lost their parents. Every time I decide to get behind the wheel, I picture my family. I think about how much I love them and how much it would affect them if I drive recklessly. I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to not come home one day. I love my family too much to hurt them. I do not care if it takes me longer to get to where I need to be as long as I know I am doing everything I can to get there safely. I want to encourage others to think about their own families as well. There is always someone out there who would be devasted if you do not make it home today.
