Safety First

It’s no surprise cars are the most common mode of transportation in most places. Especially in the USA, where having one is almost mandatory. The number of car owners will continue to grow exponentially-car companies will continue to splurge out enticing new designs and teenagers will demand them for their college journeys. As car purchases increase, the risk of something going horribly wrong also increases. The safety measures on driving should be thoroughly understood to reduce the likelihood of accidents and drivers ed should be compulsory.

Education

There’s a reason why getting your license in Maryland, requires driving education. People like to consider themselves as expert drivers without ever knowing basic safety procedures on he road. They are completely oblivious to the dangerous tactics they pull off on a daily basis until someone highlights it for them. Drivers ed will inform people on how to handle most driving scenarios the perfect way, how to avoid getting into an altercation and what you are allowed to do (or not do). For example: Before getting my drivers ed, I didn’t know blind spots existed- if I hadn’t realized then, I would have found out the hard way. Numerous studies have actually shown drivers who receive some form of education are involved in less crashes.

Reduce risks

The road can be a dangerous place if you rush in without taking risks into consideration. Driving school puts an emphasis on the many ways you can protect yourself out there. To reduce the risks you are exposed to, scan your surroundings and check your mirrors before starting the car. The driver should also check their lights, put the seatbelt on and keep their paperwork with them at all times. Once you start driving, the most important rule is to drive defensively, which is defined as driving to save lives, time and money. This approach minimizes risks and helps to avoid danger.

Close calls

Around this time 2 years ago, I was still learning how to drive properly. My instructor told me to drive around the block to see how good my control was. Everything was going smoothly until, he gave me unclear instructions on where to turn next. Normally, he would tell me to make a right turn therefore, I assumed the next turn. I had already started turning right before I could hear him call out left. I tried to turn back, completely forgetting the wall in front of me which I just drove into. I did learn an important lesson here; follow instructions properly and never assume anything on the road.

As you can see, being in the drivers seat isn’t an easy task. There are a lot of perils you have to watch out for-like people, walls and other cars. You can significantly reduce the risks by checking your mirrors, car lights, scanning your surroundings and wearing your seatbelt at all times.
