Thousands
of people die in car accidents every year in the United States. The
only way to fix this is by educating drivers in safe driving to avoid
all these deaths in driving accidents. Drivers ed is
important because it teaches people the driving laws and how to drive
safely. If everyone followed the driving laws, many accidents could
be prevented. For example, stopping at a red light instead of
accelerating in order to make it to the other side could prevent
someone from hitting another car in an intersection. A driver’s
education keeps everyone on the road safe. Many steps can be taken to
reduce the number of deaths related to driving: not driving under the
influence, ignoring distractions and staying alert at all times,
driving under the speed limit, and wearing a seatbelt.
I’ve
never been in a car accident; however, in my freshman year of high
school, a senior student passed away in a car accident and
emotionally affected a lot of students. It was a rainy day, and he
accelerated at a curve and unfortunately lost control of the car and
crashed on a tree. To be a better and safer driver, everyone has to
follow the driving laws. To avoid getting distracted, drivers should
silent their phones or put them on the “do not disturb”
mode. Poor visibility due to lack of light on the road or
intersections is also a major factor in car accidents. Improving
roadway lighting can fix this issue. To help others become better and
safer drivers is by mentioning to them when something they are doing
is wrong. Correcting someone’s driving can prevent them from doing it
again in the future and avoiding car accidents.
