Before hitting the road

If people are asked to choose their preferred mode of transport, the majority will go with cars. Some people keep cars for their convenience while others own them for the sheer pleasure of driving. Whatever be the reason, driving requires the utmost discipline and concentration. People behind the steering wheel must follow the rules and regulations for the safety of themselves as well as others around them. For that, a person must receive proper drivers ed before they hit the road.

There are many reasons as to why drivers ed is important. The first and foremost is that it provides us with a chance to learn about traffic rules, which are necessary to maintain proper order on the roads. It creates equal opportunities for both the pedestrian and a driver to cross the road at different times without causing an accident. It is important to note that the road is a shared space and hence everyone must respect each other’s rights on it.

Another point to keep in mind while driving is that we are controlling a machine. That machine, although may not require as much care as a human, still needs to be properly handled. Speeding over speed brakes or going over potholes at high speeds may cause serious accidents.

Drivers ed helps us in avoiding such incidents.

Adjustments to the encompassing traffic and pedestrians while driving is yet another thing to keep in mind before starting driving. One needs to be cautious all the time while driving as lost focus is the major cause of road accidents.

At first instance, driving may seem like a complex task. However, if we all receive proper driving education, it can become a simple exercise. A few ways to make the roads safer is to forget about any electronic devices in the car. As tempting as social media might seem, the road is not the right place to use such gadgets. The upkeep of the vehicle is another important aspect to keep in mind. Regular servicing and taking immediate remedial actions help in avoidance of mid-way break downs. Last but not the least, as mentioned above, is to follow all the traffic rules. Jumping a red light may seem enticing, but it is better to wait for two minutes than spending days in a hospital. Prevention is always better than cure and thus, driving education is a must for all who want to be in the driver’s seat.
