Driver’s Initiative Essay
Driver’s
Initiative Essay
The
importance in a drivers ed is for someone to know the
dangers of driving and safety that prevent accidents. A
drivers ed helps people to understand how dangerous a
moving vehicle can be when driving at 70 mph on a highway. Learning
from a driving academy can also help with teaching those how to
improvise in unprecedented circumstances on the road. For example, if
there is a tractor driving in front of you then you have to wait and
see if there’s an opening in the lane next to you to maneuver
around the tractor to drive faster to your destination. If someone
didn’t take a drivers ed, then they might get into a
wreck easily due to their lack of knowledge to know another way on
how to get out of strange situations.
The
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving is education, keeping eyes on the road, and to not drive
under any influence. Those who do not take driving seriously can get
into serious wrecks and can cause harm to others on the road. Those
who race on the highways are an example of those who do not care or
understand how dangerous driving can be. Keeping eyes on the road is
very important for knowing any incoming traffic and to maintain
balance of the steering wheel while driving. In 2018 there were
400 pedestrians with 77 bicyclists that were killed by distracted
drivers (NHTSA). The effective way to teach people the dangers of
driving is to show tragic stories of those who were driving while
intoxicated or distracted. When people learn how driving
irresponsibly can not only change your life, but can affect other
people’s lives forever.
In
high school, I had a friend that survived a serious car wreck from
them looking at their phone for just a second. He said he was trying
to change a song on his phone then he looked up and saw that he was
going to hit an 18 wheeler. He was going 80 mph on the highway while
he was trying to steer his wheel, but his car hit someone else in
front of him where he lost control and hit a guardrail on the
highway. When I heard his story, I learned that I needed to take
driving seriously and to make a playlist of songs that I like before
I go out and drive.
The
steps I will take to be a safer driver is to take heed to what my
parents taught me about being safe on the road and to remember how
dangerous driving is. When driving, most people forget what they
learned once they get their license because they think they can do
whatever they want. When remembering the dangers of driving from
experienced drivers, I can be a safer driver on the road for others
and myself.
