Seat belts. How many of us wearing them?
Seat
belts. How many of us wear them? Have you ever got into the car and
forgot to buckle up before driving or even riding? While others say
that seat belts are pointless, seat belts save lives every day.
Without seat belts people that get into accidents have a slim chance
in living and will very much lose their lives. According to Motor
Vehicle Safety by cdc.gov, “More than half of the people killed in
car crashes were not restrained at the time of the crash. Wearing a
seat belt is the most effective way to prevent death and serious
injury in a crash”. One of the things that can reduce the percent
of death in accidents is if people wear seat belts. By not wearing
one, your life and others that are in the car with you without a seat
belt is in danger. When your car hits something head on and have no
way of stopping yourself from going forth, you can be ejected out the
car. In the article, “Seat belts have saved an estimated 255,000
lives since 1975”.
If
you don’t wear a seat belt and if you are caught without one, the
cops will pull you over and it can result in a ticket. While it is
said to be a careless way of getting a ticket, police just want to
see it that your safe and your life is in good hands. The proper way
of wearing your seat belts is it buckled up around your waist and it
over your chest. I’ve seen many times where people would put the
chest belt behind them and just have the waist belt around their
waist. By doing that, the seat belt can’t properly help you. It can
cause very bad injuries like for example, causing your head to hit
the back of the seat or your head hit the wheel.
In
conclusion, seat belts save lives and those lives live on to tell
more people to be aware about buckling up. By buckling up, you save
your life and life is too precious to be taken away. Act now and ask
questions later, buckle up and be safe. Safety is important and
without driving safety how are we safe? The next time you get into
the car remember, today will not be the day, be cautious and buckle
up.
