In The Driver’s Seat

The number of car crashes has a tendency of increasing every year. For example, the World Health Organization reported that approximately 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic accidents.

It is known that driving on the road can have fatal consequences if speeding, distracted driving, using unsafe vehicles, driving under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances, and not using seat-belts or child restraints are not given the right attention. As a result of this, drivers ed is important for the prevention of critical car accidents and many deaths on the road.

If drivers are educated, they know the rules of the road and have proper behind-the-wheel training they need to improve their driving habits. Advanced, behind the wheel driver training ensures that drivers are up to date on all certifications and training, while also teaching them to drive more defensively. By being able to anticipate the actions of other drivers on the road, drivers can avoid situations that could cause a crash. Therefore, drivers ed makes sure people know how important it is to take precautions seriously on the road.

The number of deaths can be reduced worldwide if drivers get educated and choose a driver training program that works. On- road, behind-the-wheel training is much more effective than online classrooms. Governments need to take action to address road safety in a holistic manner. This requires involvement from multiple sectors such as transport, police, health, education, and actions that address the safety of roads, vehicles, and road users.

Effective interventions include designing safer infrastructure and incorporating road safety features into land-use and transport planning, improving the safety features of vehicles, improving post-crash care for victims of road crashes, setting and enforcing laws relating to key risks, and raising public awareness.

Being ignorant towards road safety is very costly. In fact, there’s a time my Dad’s friend was driving drunk at high speed in the night. As he was driving, my Dad’s friend hit a car then a bridge. As a result, he broke his leg and his bone was protruding from his leg. After that, he was taken to the hospital unconscious and put on crutches for several months. To avoid this, drivers should take road safety for granted.

In order to prevent serious injuries or death people should practice safe driving techniques and help others do the same. To be a safe driver, one must put all distractions away and focus on the road. To protect the driver and others, the driver must follow speed limit signs or avoid speeding.

Furthermore, a driver shouldn’t drink and drive but call a cab after drinking alcohol. Drivers can also wear the seat belt at all times, drive alert not sleepy, keep headlights on to help others be more aware of the road, and look both ways at an intersection.

Otherwise, if people take road safety seriously, accidents can be reduced. As a result, the world will become a safer place.
