In the Driver’s Seat

Driving, an activity that takes place practically almost every day of the week at any given time. It’s by far the most common means of transportation and yields more accidents than any other means of transportation. Safety is the most essential factor to consider when in engaging in any activity and the drivers of nowadays take it for granted.

When it comes to driving, you’re either a good driver or an inexperienced one. There’s nothing like an “OK” status when it comes to driving unless of course your rating an Uber driver. Studies have shown that younger drivers (under twenty years old) have a higher accident and fatality rate than older drivers. This makes a drivers ed of utmost priority as well the Do’s and Don’ts in vehicle and road safety. Operating a vehicle can be a bit intimidating for younger, inexperienced drivers which is why it’s important to complete a drivers ed course prior to obtaining a driver’s license.

In order to become a better and safer driver, one should be responsible and accountable for the safety of other road users like pedestrians and bikers. Acquiring the adequate knowledge about details like these will prevent drivers from performing “video game” like driving and moving at speeds of 190 mph. This will greatly reduce the number of driving incidents as well as injuries and more importantly fatalities. Overall, the government and many non profit NGOs should find more efficient methods to create awareness and enlighten the public on Drivers Ed and Road Safety.
