Safe Drive

Social medias are a great thing that came to change how we communicate with our family and friends, the way we can express ourselves in the internet, and even become recognized by a lot of people. But a lot of young people decides to post their common activites by making short videos that they can upload as a “story”, this “stories” can last a few seconds to show a quick moment, but that’s enough time to get distracted and cause an accident or something worst.

I believe that it is very important to make young people who starts driving that driving is considered a need, as something that can help you to move easy when you need it, and you can do it at any moment, but is not something that can be done without care, you must know the rules, have a previous practice with someone who knows how to drive properly, and also raise awareness that every action will have a consequence.

Technology has provided us a lot of great things to our cell phones, such as mobile data, we have an app for any popular social media, screen designs, and also great hardware features. Talking about hardware, there are some sensors inside our phone that the owners from the social medias companies can take advantage from to prevent potential accidents. One of those is the accelerometer, this sensor is designed to know our phones acceleration and vibration in order to detect when it is moving in any direction. Another and most common is the GPS, and as we know it is designed to know our location when it is on. Any app can ask their users if they want to allow that app to use a service or a feature, with this information, I believe that social medias can play an important role to reduce car accidents, by using all the hardware they can create features to detect when an user is driving and block the app or put some restrictions so the driver can focus in the way.

Parents can also have a role to prevent teenager from having those bad habits while driving. First of all, I believe that it is very import to let their childs know about the possible risks, and give a good example when they are driving, telling them to pay attention to every detail on the road, and how they must avoid any distraction, specially with their phones, no matter if they get message or a call is coming, it is better to stop in a safe place if you have to watch your phone.

In my own experience learning how to drive my parents told me to never get distracted, that even if I wanted to change a song from the radio or turn on the lights I had to be very careful, because a small distraction can have a big consequence, starting from getting financial consequences, getting involved in an accident, or in the worst case putting my own life, my family, a friend or somebody else’s life in danger.
