Education is as important as School Education
Being
a 17 year old teenager ready to embark on my journey to college I
know the hype of getting a new car and have a sense of liberty and
independence, but I’m also aware that with driving comes great
responsibility.Teenagers are known to be fearless and reckless most
of the time and get caught up in the excitement of the idea of
driving independently often ignoring the potential risks of not
getting the proper drivers ed.
Because
driving is such a common thing Teenagers often ignore that a special
driving education is essential to prevent life or death situations to
them and to others. Studies have shown that On
average, there are 6 million car
accidents
in the U.S. every year.
That’s roughly 16,438 per
day. Of these crashes,
22,471 caused only property damage. An additional 3 million
are
injured or disabled annually.
In Fact the
age group that has the highest rates of deaths in crashes are 16-25
year-olds. One of the most probable reasons for this is because of
the lack of driving education and ignorance to the driving rules and
safety precautions. Moreover teenagers often feel the urge to feel
self-reliant and may become so absorbed in their eagerness to drive
that they ignore and dont consider or feel necessary to go through
the process to learn how to drive.
So
what can we do to reduce these numbers? Well first things first I
know that most teenagers including myself can feel roughly
intimidated by taking our drivers licence test because we feel we
might fail no matter how much we study. Trust me i know this one, i
myself often doubt myself and believe i won’t make it. Then i
remember all the good things that might come if i study my drivers
test and get my necessary drivers ed, not only am i gonna get
my freedom and independence i want but i’m also going to be one step
more ready to begin my journey in college as an independent person,
prepare myself for my future career as a nurse but most importantly i
will protect myself and others. So with that being said there’s a few
steps you as an individual can do to prepare yourself to learn how to
drive. First is important to have patience and motivation ,have
support from your family, friends,or someone you rely on,
Consider driving education the same as school education they both
have the same importance. Drivers ed not only teaches aspiring
drivers the rules of the road, it also teaches the importance of
non-distracted, sober, and smart driving. Knowing the basic DON’TS in
driving such as speeding over the limit, crossing a red light, driving
while being drunk, driving while using a cellphone can save thousands
of lives including yours. Because of this I strongly believe that it
is necessary for drivers to take an exam every five years in order to
remain up to date on their driving knowledge to prevent tragic
accidents and future drivers get their drivers ed to prevent
life or death situations.
I
am grateful to God that neither me or my family or someone close to
me has been involved in major car accidents. However I have witnessed
many tragic car crashes that resulted in severe injuries and sadly
death as well. As cold as this might sound these experiences helped
see and realize the dangers of not getting a good driving education
and driving carelessly or distracted.
These
tragic experiences will serve as a daily reminder to me that as soon
as i start my driving journey i will make sure to get my necessary
driving education to protect myself and ensure the safety of others.
These
steps I consider essential for drivers and future drivers to learn
and remember always to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Always but i mean ALWAYS don’t drive and use your phone at the same
time as this is one of the main causes if not the main cause for car
crashes among teenagers. Always wear your seatbelt this is to ensure
your safety in case of a car crash. Minimize all distraction, Driver
sober, Keep you hands always on the steer wheel ,and only drive when
you are well rested.
