The Importance of Driving

Over
many years ago, a human being was given the idea of how society could
change in a good way if everyone had access to a vehicle in which
takes them anywhere they wish to go. However, as people became more
and more comfortable with the moving vehicle and with driving it,
they have put less thought into the risks. That isn’t always the
case, according to a chart found in Wikipedia’s “United States
Military Casualties of War”, about 33, 686 American soldiers died
because of the result of the Korean War. Compare that with the number
of people who die each year as a result of driving which is an
average of 34,000. In other words, it beats the number of deaths by
an average of 300, and to this day people are unaware or perhaps
naive of their safety when driving. The importance of this would be
that more attention needs to be brought upon the issue and how driver
education may be a pathway in reducing the number of deaths that
result from driving.

With
the help of drivers ed, one has the ability to learn more about
their surroundings and how their actions, when being in a vehicle,
may impact those around them. It may also be a life-changing
experience and teach them how when driving little things may impact
not only the driver but those inside the vehicle. The steps that can
be taken to reduce the number of deaths would be becoming familiar
with driving, test oneself on what should and shouldn’t be done
while driving, put all distractions aside (ex: electronics, drinks,
etc.) trusting someone (a parent or guardian) to teach you about the
safety regulations when driving and keeping one’s eye on the road.
Asking someone for help is the best way one can learn to drive safely
due to how they can help in making sure someone does follow the
safety regulations and make sure that driving isn’t being
distracted by their phone or any item that may seem distracting
towards the driver. An experience I’d like to share was when a
family member experienced a car accident and luckily no harm was
done. However, they weren’t being careful when driving and were
distracted by their phone. After hearing about their previous
experience, I told myself that I shall test myself in blocking any
distractions, follow all driving regulations, and respect those who
share the same road as me. These steps I tell myself will not only
help me become a better driver but it also makes me become a
responsible and respectful individual.
