Safety At All Costs

Drivers ed is important in reducing the number of deaths for people learn how they should conduct themselves and the rules of the road. Although, this is not always guaranteed since some people do not follow the rules whether they know the rules or not. Regardless of whether people learn the rules of driving, it is up to them to follow those rules for everyone to protect each other. The first step that can be taken to reduce driving related deaths is that everyone should just simply follow the rules. Doing simple things like using your turn signals or going to the correct speed can go a very long way. A few may believe it is unnecessary but having an accident because you didn’t use your signals will open your eyes when it’s too late. The next important step would be to not just drive safe for you, but for others as well. Most people only think of themselves, no matter what the activity or situation is. When it comes to driving, it is important to think of others well being since some do not drive safely for everyone on the road.

While I have not been in an accident or do not drive irresponsibly, I have seen friends and family drive irresponsibly. I have seen friends drive without a seatbelt. I have seen family members drive while they are drinking. Growing up I did not think much about it until I realized how many accidents have occurred because of these careless acts. Which is why I make sure to follow these simple rules whether I am driving or riding. The one step I will take to be a better driver and convince others to be safer is to lead by example. I will be an example by following the rules, regardless of if someone thinks it is lame or corny. And if I have others riding with me, I plan to make sure that they are watching so I can bestow the knowledge and wisdom I’ve learned to remain safe.
