Driver’s
education is highly important. When drivers are adequately educated
on the proper mechanics of a car, the number of deaths due to car
accidents decreases. This decrease in the number of deaths occurs due
to the inclusion of the importance of using seat belts, making
educated turns, restraining from drinking and driving, the reduction
in distractions while driving, and so much more in the education
being taught to highschoolers.
Steps
that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving
are providing teens and adults with poor driving records education on
refraining from drinking and driving and to cease texting while
driving and the benefits of doing so. Education should also be
centered around the proper mechanics of driving, such as following
the speed limit, following the three second rule and keeping a safe
distance between drivers.
Because
irresponsible driving occurs frequently, I have been in a situation
where I’ve seen friends and family members practice unsafe driving.
For instance, I have a friend that has a bad habit of texting while
driving with her kids in the car. Because I try to be a better and
safer driver, I often remind her of the consequences this can have
and refrain from texting and driving myself. I will continue to
abstain from drinking and driving by either having someone with me
that does not drink that can drive me home, or only drinking while in
my home with the plans to stay put. I will also continue to speak up
when I see others driving irresponsibly to promote safe driving.
