How to remain safe while driving

My name is Abigail Potts and I attend South Fulton High School. I am
seventeen years old and I have been driving since I was 15 years old
with my permit and my hardship. I have always been a safe driver
because I did not want to have a wreck and harm myself or anyone
else. Whenever I would get into my car to get ready to drive wherever
I was going I would either leave my phone in my purse or put it in
the cup holder. There were sometimes I would even plug it up to the
aux cord and then put it into the cup holder.

I
was not the typical teenager who wanted to simply sit on their phone
the whole time they were driving. It did not interest me to put
someone’s life in danger by looking at something that could wait
until a different time to be looked at or checked on. If I ever
absolutely needed to answer someone’s phone call or text message
all I had to do was pull over and answer it real quick, but that was
only done if it was important. It is just never worth putting another
person on the road, riding a bike, or walking along the side of the
road to make them have to suffer because of a dumb mistake.

If
you ever have the urge to pick a phone up or some other distraction
please remember how you would feel if you found out a family member
or a friend was harmed due to someone being on their phone. Another
thing that can be done if you have the urge is to put it where you
cannot see it, that may be in a purse, back seat, glove box, or a
cupholder. Just remember that you do not need to ever harm someone
and to always be super safe!
