Why is Driving School Important?

Driving education allows children the age 15 to 18 to learn the basics of the road. I personally enjoyed the environment we were in, and the instructor who taught us more than just from textbooks. Some things new drivers will need to know would be, where the emergency brakes are located, how to change lanes safely, how to deal with car accidents, how to check your car, etc. There is an average of 3,287 deaths a day due to road crashes. Some main reasons for these deaths would be that the driver was speeding, drunk or drugged, or just distracted.

We were all taught to follow the speed limit, but yet companies are designing vehicles for the speed. For example, Porsches, Bentleys, Mercedes-Benzs, Jaguars, etc, are all cars that are designed to go faster than others. Wouldn’t it be smarter to decrease the speed of the car in order to decrease car accidents involved in speeding? Not a lot of people can control cars at high speeds, speed shouldn’t be marketed towards customers who don’t know personally what they are getting into.

Another reason would be being drunk or high from drugs. There is an average of 10,497 deaths from drunk driving, and 37,000 from drugged driving. Those death rates could be reduced if a friend offers or suggests to them a different way.

Finally distractions are more than just phones! Distractions could be a variety of things like music, people around you, makeup, food, etc. We’ve all been told those things could wait, but yet our parents do the exact opposite of what they preach. By parents or family members being on their phone or just blasting their music, shows that those bad habits are acceptable. Our parents’ actions reflect on us! If we constantly watch them do those bad habits, we will do the same thing.

I’ve recently been in a car accident, and it was the worst experience! It was a Sunday afternoon, leaving from church. I was driving down the road and my mother directed me to turn on a street. Once we approached the street, I turned on my blinkers and looked behind me. No cars were close to me, as soon as I turned a car came out of nowhere and t-bone my car.

My car was sent flying into a street pole, soon after I turned my car off. My body quickly grew numb and my mother’s screams filled my ears. Questions from police officers and bystanders are still a blur to me. I’m just thankful the accident wasn’t worse than it was, and that my family wasn’t badly injured.

Steps I would have taken to avoid this would be quickly get back into my lane, or just look back again while I turn. I will never wish something like that on anybody, car accidents are something that ruin not only yours but others lives also. In conclusion, driving education is a necessity for not only new but old drivers too.
