Driver’s Education Inituitive
Within the United States an average of 34,000 drivers die a year. While this may seem like a high number, it is. There are many different ways drivers and passengers can reduce it. Some of those are as simple as attending Drivers Education, or Wearing a seatbelt. Drivers can also just take their cars into repair shops to get maintenance done on their car. Re Register their car yearly. It may sound simple but there are some areas where civilians can’t do much to improve. There are some laws, such as wearing a seatbelt or The speed limit on the highway, or main roads, that aren’t as enforced as they should be. This lies on the police officers that sit on the side of the road daily. In this essay, I’ll talk about how automotive death’s can be reduced by basic safety measures.
There is an importance of Driver’s education because it teaches drivers how to properly handle motor vehicles. It also teaches safety on what to do when driving and how to prevent accidents, Teaches the right of way, how highways should be handled, and other important things that if people don’t go to drivers education might not know. All of this safety and information can prevent accidents and deaths because this will educate drivers on how to handle roads, other drivers, and their own cars.
While Driver’s Education is important to prevent deaths and accidents, some further steps that you can take to prevent deaths related to driving are Enforcing the Seatbelt Law. While it’s already a law, no one, especially law enforcement, doesn’t re enforce the law. So this law should be enforced because it’s been proven that wearing a seatbelt has lowered Death rates when in crashes. Some other steps that people can take, is following the speed limit, especially on the highway and in the winter. People are always in a hurry, they want to be ahead of everyone else. If people slowed down and followed the speed limit, they would have the chance to make that decision to slow down in time before running into the car in front of them, or regain control after fish-tailing on a patch of ice. If people just slowed down they would be able to react. While this is just two examples, there are many different steps that could be taken. Most of them include law enforcement, enforcing the “smaller” laws.
I personally have not been in a car accident, I hope to never be in an accident. I have one friend who had been in an accident. She wasn’t driving irresponsibly, her brakes had given out and she rear ended the car in front of her at a red light. It was a scary experience, her car was totaled and we were all worried she was seriously hurt. There was nothing that could’ve prevented it. I also had one family member that got into an accident on the highway. Once again she wasn’t driving irresponsibly, she was getting onto a highway and a Sixteen Wheeler ran her into the guard rail. Her car was also totaled, she had serious injuries but was ok otherwise. Both of these experiences were very scary to not only the driver but their friends and family. We were lucky neither of them were hurt worse. If airbags and seatbelts hadn’t been functioning it could have gone a lot worse.
After all of this, some steps I can take to become a safer and more responsible driver on the roads are, take the car into the maintenance shop for regular check-ins. I also won’t delay if the car needs repairs. I will also follow the speed limit on roads, Highways, Etc.
Some more steps that I could also take are to wear a seatbelt whenever I am in the car, Make sure the airbags are ok and working. When the weather gets colder I will make sure to go slower, since there could be black ice patches. I won’t drive when I’m extremely tired or under the influence when I’m old enough.
I will also stay aware of pedestrians and other vehicles while driving and when it gets dark I will make sure I use headlights, and highbeams if it is dark enough and no other cars are in front of me or coming at me, I will stay alert of animals that could run across the road.
All of these steps, and precautions that people take when on the road and in the car with other people will lower the death rates.
