In The Driver’s Seat

There is no bigger danger than being inside a transportation car while being mobilized. All drivers are in the most dangerous places to be in when driving their vehicles. It is dangerous to the point where there have been more deaths from car accidents, which requires driving, than there were in a handful of combat wars deaths. Considering all the dangers and deaths mentioned in the “Driver Education Initiative 2021: In the Driver’s Seat”, there are new things for me to now research on and educate myself in. Many, including myself, had no idea of the fact that more drivers, in America, have died from driving than those who passed away during combat wars.

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is to the point where one can prevent and avoid their death when in their vehicle driving. One that is educated on their driving and how to be safe when driving, is less likely to have a car accident. Not only can they prevent their brutal hospital visit or death if they get into a harsh accident, but they can prevent that for others in the same vehicle as them as well. Others, as in their loved ones, friends, co-workers, etc. anyone in the passenger seat can be saved from passing away in a brutal car crash if the driver was knowledgeable enough of what they need to do at all times while driving and the importance of being a licensed driver.

Certain steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is before taking the license test, study for a long time. Perhaps study all the questions in deeper meaning and why they are important to know and consider doing while driving. Consider passing the licensure exams with perfect scores. Show yourself and others that you are beyond knowledge to drive safely. After passing the exams keep studying ten minutes a day so that the knowledge stays in your mind constantly. Drive with precaution and safely at all times even if you are just driving to a nearby quick destination. Never put yourself and others at risk. If you have second thoughts if what you are doing while driving is safe or not, it most likely is, do not do it. Be responsible. Better safe than sorry.

Personally I have never experienced being in a car accident, thankfully, I never want to be in that scenario. My family members have though, my cousin was in the passenger seat when the driver was not only drunk but driving irresponsibly. My cousin almost lost her arm. My sister, she got in a car accident but, thankfully, it was not as brutal as my cousins and she was the driver. Though she was not driving irresponsibly, she was still the one that hit the other person in front of her. I have seen many of my high school friends drive irresponsibly and with no license. My family members are all licensed drivers but sometimes drive while on the phone never texting.

The steps I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road is to remind myself and others of all the deaths we have due to irresponsible driving.  Always make sure their and my seatbelt are on. Make sure they are in a stable physical health to drive. Remind them that their lives are at major risk when not driving how they are supposed to. Warn them I will not get in their car if not driving safely. Take their phones away immediately once I am in their vehicle. I can also try and not speak to them as much as I would like to prevent distractions. Never let my friends and family members drive while having alcohol in their system.  I, though, can leave my phone completely unattended and always keep my eyes on the road. Be responsible and never drink when I know I will be driving back to my desired destination.

To sum up everything that has been stated so far, being a safe and educated driver is extremely important for the particular reason that you become one person less in the annual deaths from driving. It also benefits others driving in your surroundings but most importantly yourself and individuals in your vehicle. Educate yourself to the point where driving becomes easy muscle memory. Prevent yourself and others from becoming one of the annually deaths due to driving. Be safe and take care.
