Safe Driving

I believe Drivers Education is very important, you learn the rules of the road and the statistics that go along with it, you’re able to ask questions to your instructor and get the answers you need to be road smart. Not only is important to be a safe driver but a knowledgeable driver. Many drivers especially those new and inexperienced don’t realize for example what to do if your hydroplaning or skidding to one side of the road, Tips to driving in different weather conditions, ways to minimize distractions while driving.theres is so much more that goes into to driving not just about getting from point A to point B, it’s about being a safe and responsible drivers not only for yourself but for others on the road.

There are steps that we can take to reduce the number of accidents and deaths on the road: Do not text while driving I feel is a big one no matter where I am in a car or supermarket someone is always texting or talking on their phone this is a very big distraction,No matter what laws and fines that are in place it does not matter it is still being done,It is safer to use a phone hands free. Obey traffic laws such as speed limits, traffic signals, and traffic signs,Wear a seat belt, which I dont think is enforced that much anymore, what ever happen to the slogan click it or ticket? And of course, Do not drink/drug and drive.

Their are also car safety inspections, but it is only enforced in fourteen states, some states will not let you register your car unless it passes state inspection. The inspection includes things such as brakes, emergency brakes, steering, horn, lights, flashers, seat belts, exhaust system, tires, license plate placement, even the condition of the body of your vehicle for rusting. There is so much that is involved in safety more than I can mention, its more than just putting the key in the ignition and turning the key, now adays vehicles can start by a push of a button.

My uncles vehicle was hit from behind while stopped at a traffic light the driver of the car behind him dropped his phone,he reached down by his feet to pick up his phone and for that one moment that he was distracted is all it took for him to hit the back of my uncles car. Thank god there was no injuries. I have never been in a vehicle accident if any kind or know of anyone personally that has, just what my uncle told me that happened to him.

I personally am I rule follower, I follow the rules as we are suppose to, I feel rules are there for a reason, they are there to keep us safe and to be enforced. We all need to think safety for ourselves, our families and others that are on the road as well, My aunt always says its not you its the other people I worry about, we can not depend on others to follow the rules, or to be careful we need to be aware of our surroundings and what is around us, Another way to keep safe and others safe is not to constantly change lanes, which is in the drivers permit book, My aunt always does her own type of safety check especially if going somewhere that includes long driving time on the highway, she checks her flashers, directionals, and headlights as well as break lights, if the trip is a long trip she checks the oil and radiator. Another important point on safety for you or the other driver is to pull over to the break down lane also known as the shoulder if you are having a problem with your vehicle and put your flashers on, do not get out of the car unless safe to do so on the side of the road and drivers when seeing a vehicle on the side of the road should drive to the left to avoid an accident. Especially if there is a tow truck, police car,or emergency responders. When it comes to driving you always need to be alert and to pay attention to the road and those on the road, always obey the law and follow the rules of the road. When the snowy-winter months arrive and if its not safe to drive in the snow or a bad rain and sleet storm, then you should not drive especially if you feel unsafe, its for your safety as well as those around you, the driving is different compared to a warm summer day.
