Driving Intelligence

Year by year the percentage of fatalities increases as those who are behind the wheel don’t do anything on their part to reduce the risks and dangers that could lead to that. In this generation, it’s normalized to start driving at a younger age even if you’re not illegally allowed to but that doesn’t stop them. What makes the case worse is, the parents of these children don’t do much in their responsibility to prevent possible danger to their children by getting behind the wheel. Death is so often to be seen caused by a car accident simply because they weren’t paying enough attention to the road.

To begin with, there’s so many lessons and driver education you could access and study all on your own to really self educate yourself before you get on the road. There’s so many rules and precautions you need to be aware of before you could be ready to drive, simply that’s what driver education is meant for. Steps that should be taken to reduce the amount of deaths related to driving would be to start off slow and take as much time as you need when first learning to drive. Don’t ever let yourself be put in a situation where you’re being pressured to drive under the circumstances that you don’t feel like it’s safe. It’s always better to listen to your gut feeling instead of letting it cost you your life. For example, being out with your friends once you have your own car is when things get exciting and you want to go everywhere with them. There’s nothing wrong about that but you need to keep in mind that no matter who could be in the car with you, it could be a distraction. Not that they will be one necessarily but you always have to keep in mind to be able to control driving when you have passengers in your vehicle. No matter what could possibly be happening around you, your focus should be straight ahead of you on the road and watching out for your surroundings.

Also, a lot of people tend to multitask while driving and although you may think that it’s safe or that you have everything perfectly in control, it’s not worth it and you shouldn’t do it. For instance, being on your phone, putting on makeup, listening to very loud music, or just not having your undivided attention to the road could all lead to causing an accident. You should prevent yourself from wanting to do anything that may distract you because you never know what could happen.

Although you can be doing everything right and being a really safe driver, that doesn’t stop the possible errors other drivers could make on the road. By this I mean that there will be ignorant people on the road or those who could care less about driving safely and by the rules. Those are the type of people you should always watch out for and it’s more of reason to always be on high alert. You can’t always have the expectation of others to respect the road as much as you will. Which is why you also need to be educated on what to do in situations where you need to pull yourself away from possible dangers or how to react quickly if something may happen while you’re driving by fault of somebody else.

I’ve had experiences in the past where there could’ve been possible accidents due to the ignorant people who simply don’t know how to drive. Or even I’ve been in the car before where the one who’s driving isn’t fully paying attention and I’ve precationed them about something ahead on the road or just being their second set of eyes just in case it’s needed. I just got my license not that long ago and also have a car which I now do drive more often. I do consider myself a good driver and I’m always aware of my surroundings at all times. I try to always put any distractions away and even with music at times I won’t play it as loud so that I can pay better attention to the road ahead of me.Being smart about driving isn’t the hard part, it’s people being ignorant to the possibilities of there being an accident if they get the slightest distracted and they prefer to drive more recklessly to get somewhere on time then taking their time and putting their safety first. Not only should you think about yourself but also about the others driving around you as well to consider not only saving your life but many other lives as well. All it takes is taking your time and knowledge of being a good alerted driver.
