The importance of driver education consists on ensure safety for drivers and passengers. This also teach adolescents important factors about driving in all sorts of different weather, roads, cities, etc. They maximize fuel efficiency and adhere to schedules, ensuring passengers are not left waiting by the roadside and get to their journey destinations on time. Teen crashes rates are highest at ages 16-18 years old, that is why driver education appears to make a difference in teen traffic outcomes. Driver’s education significantly reduces crashes and traffic violations among new drivers. According to a research about common car accidents, this states that young drivers who have not completed driver’s education are 75% more likely to get a traffic ticket and a 25% more likely to be involved in an accident. This is because teens that have not taken driver educations classes are likely to be involved in any kind of accident or traffic violation because of the speeding or a distracted driving. A good driver training program can provide defensive driving instruction and discussions of accident types and can reduce the likelihood of an accident occurring. Additionally, having knowledge of road safety can prevent many of the dangers of the road and make the roads safer for everyone.

There are some simple steps in order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. The key points of this are to avoid distractions, obey the traffic laws, and steer clear of alcohol and drugs. Distractive driving is the first cause of driving crashes. Occasionally, a distracted driver does not have complete attention on the road, and may be paying attention to other things, such as taking to the passengers or talking in the phone. Many distracted drivers are usually drivers who have been driving a long time and think they can multitask. as the slogan says “When you distracted, who’s driving?.” In the other hand, speed limit exists for a reason and exceeding a posted speed limit means putting others in risk; the faster they go, the less reaction time they have to avoid an accident; as the slogan says “Better late than never,” just follow the speed limit.

As teenagers, one never knows when things happen and why will they happen. Its easy for us to not follow the rules because we are living our best time, we want to take on the world in one sit, but we do not know what is exactly what we want and what we are doing. I had a friend, I knew him since we were in middle school, due to fate, each of us went to different schools and we went to separate ways. We did not hear from each other again until college. I remember the last time I talk to him he was telling me that his baby had been born already, he wanted me to meet her. Last year by October, I was in Juarez with my family, I was watching the news when I saw someone die in a motorcycle accident, the body was unrecognizable, they did not know whose body it was. After few days we found out it was my friend, the accident happened because he was playing races with another guy. It is weird how things happen in a flash and we could not even do anything to stop it. Imagine the pain of the people that loved him, just because he took a bad decision, he though it would be easy to do it, and what was the price, his death.

Aggressive drivers are known road hazards, causing one third of all traffic crashes. As a defensive drivers, we can avoid crashes and help lower our risk behind the wheel. We cannot control the actions of other drivers, but there are some driving skills that can help us avoid the dangers caused by other people. Before we get behind the wheel, we have to get everything prepared for our safety. Stay focused is the primarily task we have to do; road conditions, speed and position, observing traffic laws, signs, road markings, following directions, being aware of the cars around you, checking your mirrors and the list goes on.

In conclusion, driving is an important responsibility because you are in control of a vehicle that can cause harm to others or damage to other people’s properties. Moreover, it is one of the most dangerous modes of transportation, causing around 38,000 deaths each year, it is important to drive safely because it can save your life, help avoid fines or imprisonment for traffic violations and keep the insurance lower.
