Here’s a Clue, Use 10 and 2

Picture this, you go to the hospital to get a life-saving procedure done. The first thing you want to do is look up the doctor and see how well he/she is at their job. Usually, trust is something you gain over time but in the hospital setting, we have to trust the hospital in their decision. This isn’t quite necessarily the same for drivers though. People tend to trust the driver knows what they are doing. Of course though if they drive for work, then the employer is going to do a background check. But we don’t ever really think twice about letting someone drive us around. Thus, driver’s education, especially proficient drivers education, is an essential part of growing up.

It is human nature to believe that you as a person are the best driver and road rage is not uncommon in America. But we don’t take into consideration the new drivers. With everyone in a hurry to get places, many experienced drivers speed. Therefore, showing new drivers what they probably shouldn’t do. Being a good role model for new drivers can benefit newer generations. Helping new drivers can especially be benefited by providing proper driver’s education.

Driver’s education is common amongst fifteen-year-olds who are wanting to prepare for getting their license. A lot of insurance companies even give discounts to kids who take and pass driver’s education. This important class is there to provide students with knowledge about the roads. Roads are complicated pieces of art that people follow to ensure safety. It can be flawless if rules and regulations are followed correctly. This class also comes in handy for parents who work and don’t necessarily have the time to teach their children how to drive. Wonderful companies such as “Driving and Traffic School” give kids the opportunity to fit in their hours of mandatory lessons before taking their test.

Having a fifteen-year-old in charge of an essentially dangerous vehicle is scary, but it doesn’t have to be if we give them the right education. Schools even provide drivers education, students and parents need to take advantage of this. Learning all the tricky road rules is highly important in life. The road is a very intricate piece of work that needs to be emphasized for new drivers. It can be very overwhelming as a new driver, but knowing the rules and regulations beforehand can dwindle this feeling.

As cars developed over the years, it wasn’t long before they realized they needed rules for the roads. To avoid accidents and injury to people, beautiful minds were put together to make driving more convenient and safe. Things such as right-a-ways became a thing, road signs, and traffic lights came into play. Though with all of these rules, people are still to blame for their driving habits. With driver’s education, we are able to teach the new generations the proper ways to pay attention when driving. Such as using your mirrors correctly, adjusting the seat, judging your speed when stopping, and the classic 10 and 2.

With 10 and 2 drivers are taught to pretend as if their wheel were a clock, therefore placing their hands where 10 and 2 would be. Benefits of using this technique include having appropriate control over the vehicle, having your attention more on the road, and feeling more secure. Over time, we tend to get too comfortable with our driving and forget how important this technique is. One of the first things our driver’s education instructor teaches us is the 10 and 2 method. It wasn’t taught for no reason. Teaching this method to each new driver provides safety.

To elaborate on why driver’s education is highly important in our society today, these lessons help protect ourselves and other drivers. Car accidents happen a lot more often than they should. These accidents are caused mainly by reckless driving, distracted driving, and being under the influence. Some people who aren’t doing anything wrong end up being a victim of another’s actions. Kids are excited to drive, but giving them the right education about safety will benefit them. Show them the written rules of the road, and then physically show them how to function safely when driving.

As I come to a conclusion, driver’s education is the most important part of driving. Learning how to use the gas, knowing the road signs, knowing how to check your oil, are all crucial elements in driving. With proper education, we can prevent more accidents and even save lives. Nothing is more exciting than getting your first car and having the opportunity to drive you and your friends places. It all starts with driver’s education. Arrive at the destination and then go ahead and have fun. Pay attention to the road and most importantly use 10 and 2.
