Importance of Driving Safely

Driver education is so important so that the roads become safer. When people receive driving education they are more likely to be safe drivers. It is like having a good education where the student really wants to learn so that eventually they become more intelligent and know more about the world around them. If people receive good driving education and they put in the effort to truly learn how to be a better driver then they will become better drivers. Not everyone has the ability to take driving lessons whether it is because they cannot afford it or because they do not have the time. I think that driving lessons are worth it. I think that I am a much better driver than I would have been if I had not received driving lessons. I learned a lot of little things about the road that I probably would not have learned. Driving instructors are also well trained and usually people who have been driving for a long time. The experience and tips that they can share with their students can be vital. It is the small little tips that really make the difference.

There are many different things that can be done to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. As I have said before, when people go to driving school they are more likely to get a better feel for the road and be more confident on the road. Driving with confidence is important so that you are sure about what you want to do next, are aware of your surroundings, and drive within the speed limit so that you aren’t going too fast or too slow. Having a law that limits people who are older from driving when they reach the point when they are a hazard to have on the road can reduce the number of accidents that occur. Older individuals not only drive slower and irritate a lot of drivers, their reaction time and senses aren’t as good as before. People get irritated so quickly while driving and that can be so dangerous because when people are upset they tend to make rash decisions. When they do this, it might lead them to get into an accident trying to avoid the person who might be going slow in front of them. Reaction time in driving is so important because you need to be able to react in a moment’s notice if something goes wrong around you. Having fully functioning senses is vital while driving. Being able to hear a siren could save someone’s life. Being able to be aware of all your surroundings can save the driver’s life and the people around them. Having good eyesight is so important because you need to be able to see all the things that other drivers are doing around you. If people had to take evaluations past a certain age to see if they still have the ability to drive, I think that would reduce the number of deaths. When people start to take the laws about not being on your phone while you drive seriously that will also make a big difference in the amount of people who die from car accidents. It is a topic that we talk a lot about and yet I still see so many people on their phones when I am driving. There are so many things that we can do to prevent deaths, and a few of them are: going to driving school, restricting the age of drivers, and enforcing the laws of not texting while driving.

I have never been in an accident, but I have seen so many and almost been in a few. Since I started driving I have had a few close calls where I have almost gotten in accidents. Whenever this happens to me it always freaks me out because I get so scared. I think about how badly things would have gone. It usually scares me so much that I start to cry. Almost being in accidents really messes with my head because I think of all the possibilities that could have happened if it had actually occurred. I have also seen so many accidents throughout my life whether I saw them happen or I just saw the aftermath. Seeing someone get into an accident is so scary because you never know if they will be alright. The sounds that you hear while the accident is happening are genuinely awful because they not only sound bad but they also mean that someone could be hurt. My mom when she lived in Mexico was actually in an awful car accident. She was traveling in the mountains where there are a lot of curves, and there had just been some work done on the road so there was gravel on the ground. She lost control of the car because of that and fell off the edge. She miraculously survived and had to climb up the mountain back up to the road and get a ride from someone passing by. That is a scary car accident that I would never want to be in.

I could be a better driver by being fully aware of my surroundings. I think that I am good at knowing what is going on around me when I am driving. Being aware of what is going on around me not only keeps me safe but also others because if I’m being safe I won’t put others in danger. I should also be more present when I am driving. Sometimes I think back to the drive, especially from home to school in the morning and I don’t remember anything because it is so early in the morning and because I make that exact same drive every single day. I should also be more calm when I drive because I do get angry. To help my friends be better drivers, I could tell them if they are doing something that is wrong. When people have something that is clearly wrong with their car like their brake lights aren’t working, I could tell them to make sure they know so they can help keep people safe on the road.
