The Importance of Educating Drivers

There are many deaths caused each year in the United States by motor vehicle accidents. The best way to combat these accidents is to get educated. Driver’s education is the best way to get educated on how to drive anywhere and everywhere. Even though driver’s education may not be free in some places I believe it is well worth the money to teach you how to drive and help reduce the many accidents that occur each year in the United States and throughout the world. Also I hope that the people that aren’t educated will get educated one day from driver’s education, even though it may not seem like the greatest class to take in the world, It teaches you many lessons that you might have never known before. I believe that there is so much importance to having driving education, it educates people of all the dangers they have when driving and about all of the conditions, stereotypes, and issues they might encounter when driving. I believe that driver education helps many people get started in their driving career, and that is why it is most important to have these classes available to younger people. A few lessons I learned when taking driver’s education was, when it would be my turn to go in an intersection with or without stop signs. How to perform “defensive driving” such as when fishtailing to turn your steering wheel the way your rear end is moving to correct the slide. How to turn when understeering occurs. I also learned some basic maintenance that I can do at home with my vehicle.

I believe that the automotive industry has done an exceptional job when making vehicles safe for everyone to drive. Most times I believe that Many people have not been educated in the defensive driving category. After learning many defensive driving Attributes, many people have not been educated in what to do in certain situations, such as at a four-way stop when they were not the first person to stop there. Since I am a Midwestern I am known to wave people along first and always be the last one to go. but I believe that a lot of other people do not follow that, which I am okay with since it is just a Midwestern attribute. Even though most people do not live in the Midwest and do not have this kind of niceness and some people might say I think it’s a great thing to share on the road and everybody would drive happier and safer having these kinds of characteristics.I also believe that the public advertisers have done their absolute best job in educating the public as to what dangers come with driving without a seatbelt.

I know many people do not follow this rule, such as a few friends of mine in high school. I sure hope that one day they have an incident that will teach them to wear their seatbelt all the time. I have had a couple near-misses with some friends, Such as when we were racing a buddy we never saw the deer in the road and almost hit them and we were both not wearing seatbelts because we hadn’t been paying attention on that drive. That was one of my moments where I realized I needed to wear a seatbelt no matter what was going on. Because if I would have gone through the windshield that day I would have more than likely died. I would not have the future college life that I would without wearing a seatbelt. I do know that my couple friends that don’t wear seat belts and have driven drunk before and I sure hope once again that they have an experience that teaches them the right way to drive.

I hope to drive safer by educating them of the dangers of driving drunk or without a seatbelt. I know that many people do not care to drive with a seatbelt but I for sure want to drive with a seatbelt because I know it is very dangerous to drive without one. Sometimes even these friends realize that they should have been wearing a seatbelt, such as one day in school they were giving out candy for kids who were wearing their seatbelts. They told me that they wish they were wearing their seatbelts because they would have got the free candy. I’m sure this didn’t teach them a lot, but they hopefully had a little lesson on wearing seat belts. Even though most people say or I’m only going a couple of miles I know that those couple miles are the most dangerous miles in any drive. In the end I believe that the public has educated all drivers the best they can and that it is in our hands being drivers now to take the wheel and keep the roads as safe as possible.
